Jazz at Wolves GDT

Post by 60WinTim »

Okay, lets see if I can break my string of Wolves losses when I start the GDT!

While there is no such thing as a "must-win" game this early in the season, the Wolves must win this game if we are to take them seriously as a contender. We had 3 losses to non-playoff teams in the first 7 games of the season last year, and that seemed to set the tone for the entire season. Let's put our foot down here and now.

Hope you Bally streaming guys are able to watch this one. I saw they are going give refunds for the fiasco last week, whatever that looks like...

Exactly Tim, these were the games that KILLED us last year. We absolutely cannot let that happen this season, otherwise we will be staring at a play-in game again.

Last year, Utah wanted to beat the Wolves to improve the draft position of the Wolves pick. This year, Utah doesn't have this incentive. Without the negative trade juju and Finch carping on this as a must win game, I think the Wolves take care of business. Further, we have three Wolves, Rudy, Conley and NAW who might view this as a revenge game and it's at home where we are still undefeated for the year.

Didn't the Jazz just blow out Memphis by 50? I mean, Memphis seems to suck this year, but this team can get hot offensively. We've got to take this thing seriously.

Here's what I want to see:

1. Continued defensive intensity.

2. Smart, sound offense. Less hero ball, more safe, logical passes. More manufacturing catch-and-shoot chances for KAT (so he avoids those flailing drives), maybe through some pick and pops with him and Ant. And I'd like to see Ant get out and run the floor on the break more.

3. Poise and mental steadiness. It's so often this team's weakness that we get caught up whining to refs, or overreact to situations. They will go on runs, we may fall behind. Conversely, we may build a big lead. But regardless, we just need to keep steady and play our game.

My daughter is attending the game with a U of M classmate and I'm on the east coast watching on a computer. How weird is that??

KAT with a couple of drives, but those are smart ones when the paint isn't crowded and he can straight-line it to the layup. When he's got that drive available, yeah, go ahead and take it.

Ant hot.

Jaden with a couple fouls.

Not sure about those jerseys.

It has been an absolute joy to witness Naz’s progression as a basketball player. Every year he improves.

Such a rarity for the Wovles franchise, to take a guy and methodically develop him like this.
