How about Escobar or as I sometimes like to refer to him as Tulo who? He has been amazing down the stretch.
To be fair though monster before tulo got injured the blue Jays have been just rolling through people.
I don't know who to cheer for in the Astros rangers series I believe the play 7 times in 10 days the scheduling Gods finally help the the Twins. I said it about a month ago but that 4 game series with the Angles is going to make or break the twins playoff chances this year.

It's just a joke so don't take it too seriously but have you looked up Tulo's stats with the Jays? It's sounds like just about anyone was a big upgrade defensively over Reyes but for all the hype and what they gave up to get Tulo he hasn't exactly delivered the goods. Oh and he is a guy that hasn't had 500 abs in a season since 2011 so it's no surprise he is hurt again. Don't get me wrong I have no reason to dislike the guy and I don't (I've always liked him as a casual baseball fan) it's just more a dig at Twins fans that were whining about not making a move for him plus giving Escobar some love that he deserves. A couple of us said to make a playoff run a few guys had to step up. Escobar has done that and it's been pretty significant.

Trust me I'm happy that Escobar is doing well but he was part of the problem the first half of the season at shortstop. Tulo numbers were basically the same as Reyes as far as OBP is concerned and he's 5 times the defender Reyes is. My point when I was clambering for it was the price tag wasn't that high for him. Tulo helped stretch out that line up just like Sano has helped stretch out the Twins line up.

Good points I don't think many people expected the price to be that high for Tulo. I think Danny Santana was the problem at SS both with his bat and defensively the first half of the season. Escobar was still doing his odd utility infielder power run driving in thing the first half of the season also with 19 extra base hits and 29 RBIs in about 200 ABs. I get the Twins wanted Santana to succeed and they probably will give him a shot to a certain extent next year too I haven't given up on him but it seems he was pretty awful this year. Can Escobar continue the ability to hit for power as a middle infielder? This is the 2nd straight year he has done it and it's basically out of nowhere. He looks like a nice player at least as a utility guy that's for sure.
Now to Tulo. Let's be honest as Twins fans we know how valuable it can be to have even an average all-around SS. Tulo may not be an all-star again but worst reasonable case scenario he likely will stay a solid fielder and hitter for a couple more years. That's pretty valuable at that position. There is a chance he regains his old form too. I am not knocking the move for the Jays and I do think he helped that team but I don't think the Twins were in a position to give up what was needed to make the move. Toronto went all in it was a good move for them and likely will continue to be for a couple more years. It's been kind of a fun season a few teams that you didn't e pest competing and along moves. I probably followed Baseball more this season than I have in around 4 years
A friend asked me at the game Monday who my favorite current Twin was, and I pointed at the guy in the on-deck circle and said "That guy...Escobar". And he came through for me and homered 2 minutes later!
I don't blame Escobar for thr Twins' SS woes the first half of the season...I blame Mollie. It was clear after the second week of the season that Santana could not handle the position defensively, and it turned out he couldn't hit either. And Escobar showed us last year how much better he is when he knows he is the starter. Escobar has been terrific ever since Mollie told him he was the guy...offensively and defensively. About two weeks ago I read that his slugging percentage since the All Star game was second in the league...astonishing that he was slugging better than Sano. He has been such an important part of this playoff chase.
I kind of struggled with who to cheer for in the Texas/Houston series also, and ended up cheering for Houston...didn't work out so well for me! But the fact is we only have to pass one of those two teams to make the playoffs, and they stil have to play each other 4 times next week in Houston. If Jepson can close this game out tonight, we'll be just 1/2 game behind the Astros, and only 4 behind NY for the first wild card spot. Looking good right now, but Jester is right...we need to handle the angels this weekend. They're losing to the Mariners tonight, though, so we could be 3 up on them going into our series.
Edit: Ouch...so much for Jepson closing the game...guess I jinxed him! Now we gotta do something in the bottom of the 9th. Good move by Mollie not pinch running for Sano in the 7th, although he looked pretty bad against Rodon last night. Maybe he can get him back tonight.
See guys Escobar sucks lol I'm jk, boy that 9 inning really irked me. Come on Mauer a 12 year old could catch that short hop. Plouffe realize that the ball isn't gonna get the runner step up to make a throw to second. I know you guys are Kurt fans but for God sakes do a job and hit a fly ball.
Well the Twins salvaged that series with a win yesterday with a nice performance from Duffy. It's going to be an interesting finish. It seems like every time it feels like this team is dropping off they bounce back.
