Rudy might be damn close to an A+ in this one. I'd lower SloMo's grade by a notch or two.

KAT's performance was really disappointing. He went back to his wild drives and no-man's land passing that led to a bunch of careless turnovers. I hope Finch sat him in crunch time to send a message and it wasn't for some other reason. He just can't be that reckless.

Ant seems to have a hard time coming off what are generally non-serious injuries. It's not like he missed 20 games, yet he certainly looked like it at times. That being said, he moved the ball well and collected some nice assists, including a perfect pocket pass to Rudy for a dunk. We could use more of that.

My grades are similar with a few significant differences.

Gobert: A+. I don’t know what more Rudy could do to help get his team win on a night when other key players were struggling. He was incredible with 20 rebounds and a highly efficient 16 points, including huge put-backs. And his defense against a big lineup was stellar.

Towns: B- As Q noted, we saw too much of the old careless KAT on offense. But you can’t ignore his 14 highly efficient points and 10 rebounds. And he played solid defense as well. His scoring early in the game was critical to keeping the Wolves close.

Ant: B- Edwards had a bad game shooting and looked lost out there for a while. But he played some outstanding defense to fuel the Wolves 4th quarter run when they pulled ahead for good. He also had 7 rebounds and 6 assists while hitting 7 of his 8 free throws. He was also a plus 14.

Naz: B. He was huge getting buckets when his teammates were stifled. His 15 points and 9 rebounds were keys to the win. He was also a plus 10.

Anderson: C. He had 7 points and only 1 rebound and 1 assist. He was 2-6 from the field and finished with a -7. Those numbers would be worthy of a D. His 4 blocks bump him up to a C.

I will say that Towns was very controlled in this game when it came to fouls etc.

Non-serious injury? He was clearly nowhere near 100%. He might be like 70% out there he was clearly hurting from the first couple minutes of the game. He had some really good defensive possessions and made some key plays. The fact that he was out there at all speaks to the fact that he is a guy that really wants to be out there etc. I probably wouldn’t have let him go out there to be honest.

I’ll add here that Anderson while he missed some buckets was back to being a big positive contributor. 4 blocks. Wowzers.

I love Troy Brown. He only had 1 rebound but that dude is everywhere.

You’re right about Ant, Monster. I’m not sure how obvious it was on TV, but watching live it was obvious that Ant was in some significant pain. He was wincing repeatedly while also occasionally limping and rubbing his hip.

I also share your love for Troy Brown. He’s always better than his box score and he’s even more impressive live than he is on TV. His energy reminds me of Vando. He also plays smart basketball.

Thanks for sharing your in person observations. I was thinking about Vando a bit also. I would say watching him with the Wolves Brown is sorta a mix between Prince and Vanderbilt. Considering he is making 4 million a year and supposed to be a depth guy…you really gotta like that. He brings some toughness to the team too. We gotta see how the season plays out but he looks like a guy we are gonna want to keep at least next year.

A cross between Prince and Vando. That’s perfect, Monster!
