Are these Wolves a buyout destination?

Post by DNatagal »

Trade talk is already heading up (see Tyus Jones in Washington) and the chatter is that the Wolves probably will not be in the trade market due to the lack of trade fodder (tradeable contracts/draft picks). So, the next choice is the buyout market. Are there any players that might be available? More importantly, will any of those players choose Minnesota????

Hard to know right now, as often times buyouts happen after a trade that includes an unneeded vet that was acquired to help match salaries.

I think Shake, TBJ, Moore Jr., and even Naz Reid (gasp!) could all be potential trade bait for the right player. We could use another dynamic guard/shooter on the roster.

Reid is the only one with any real value (skill and salary) among those listed.

The real buyout candidates don't come around until after the trade deadline.

TBJ and Shake both have team options next season, so they can help match salaries without burdening the other team beyond this season.

Sure. I'm not saying they're lost roster spots... only that they're throw-ins to anything else, mostly for monetary reasons.
