Suspended Indefinitely

Post by 60WinTim »

Draymond Green. Nice. He must have been on double secret probation after the Gobert choke hold...

The Warriors were already outside looking in to the playoffs. This certainly won't help. Wiggins and Thompson are both playing incredibly bad, getting themselves benched in the 2nd half against the Suns. It's premature to write them off, but I don't see light around the corner for them.

I am not feeling sorry for them! :D Did you see the swing Draymond hit Nuric with?!? And then he is insisting he was not trying to hit him.

The Warriors are in tax hell, and have long term commitments to both Wiggins and Draymond. Steph cannot be happy.

The guy has something wrong with him. It's one thing to be a thug, but then combine that with a mental issue and you have a powder keg.

I'm always amused when a world-class professional athlete — who can so artfully move within a split second to within a fraction of an inch thousands upon thousands of times — suddenly loses all control of his body and "accidentally" takes a cheap shot on a guy.

The best part is that it's often the SAME guys... multiple times.

See Draymond Green, Chris Paul, Grayson Allen, et al.

Agreed. No one else does it. Turns around and elbows or forearms a dude in the head. Claiming he was flopping. Kicking dudes in the nuts on "accident". It's completely BS. The dude is extremely egomaniacal to the point of being out of control and loves the attention. He takes cheap shots on guys and is not really punished for it. He's a coward.

Yeah he's moving into or even beyond Rodman territory at this point. I would say that his team enables him in the same vein of Rodman. Maybe that is how Kerr views it seeing how Phil dealt with Dennis. Hard to think its not doing a disservice to let that shit go, but he is a grown man. I hate him at this point, but somehow loved Rodman. We're all a contradiction of sorts maybe.

His legacy is secure. He's got four rings and was the driving force culturally for a dynasty. All of these antics will be looked back fondly by some. Once he retires, the powers that be in NBA media will fall all over themselves to get him onto their teams, whether it's to do podcasting, punditry, color commentary, etc.

Rodman was more in fun with the colorful hair and goofy outfits, where Draymond is much more serious. Rodman was more like a Jester where he was knowingly being entertaining. Draymonds act isn't fun and mostly harmless. Most of what Rodman did was harmless. Draymond is actually trying to injure people.

I think that's the big difference. Yes Rodman played hard and physical but it's still in a basketball sense, but I don't really remember him going over the line in the way Draymond does to the point of simply taking tons of multiple cheap shots at people.

Rodman kicked a sideline photographer in the junk (in Minnesota). Head butted Stacey King, Isiah Thomas, at least one referee. Punched Joe Wolfin in the nuts from the Bucks... and the goes on and on, but his antics were fun if he played for your team.

I thought the kick was more to the thigh and the camera man sold it pretty hard. Maybe I am making excuses for him because other then the Wolves I was a bit of a Bulls fan. You got me.

2 things.

1. Finally Draymond getting big suspension. I thought the 5 games for the incident with Gobert was way too light in light of his past and how ridiculous it was and legitimately dangerous. It was amusing the spot I saw with Barkley where the person he was on with said Draymond claimed it wasn’t intentional and Chuck was like “he’s lying”. Let’s say Draymond wasn’t intentionally taking a shot at Nurkic but was flopping. You are still out of control and landed a pretty big hit on a guy. If sold a call or two but if I hurt a guy flopping I’d be ashamed of myself. With Draymond there was definitely intent. He has no defense right now.

2. Rodman played in a different era where there was much more physicality than now. That needs to be acknowledged. He was also a guy with various mental issues I think that was reasonably apparent back then but we know more now. I’m not sure if Draymond is at that level but his on the court stuff has been maddening for years but it’s only getting worse. Rodman was an absolute irritant and would get in guy’s heads. It was an art form. Both Draymond and Rodman are legit basketball geniuses in their own way. It’s easy to love or hate them at any given time. I respect the way Draymond played overall for many of his years of his career. Dude wasn’t even supposed to make it in the league. In his book Rodman talked about the guy that was drafted before him. His career stats were something 2.1 points and 2.1 rebounds and Rodman was like “at least he was consistent.”

As for GS yeah they may not be done but it looks like their run might be over and at one point it looked like they may have some pieces to help them take that step later but…at this point the young guys look more like role players to me. Wiseman is gone and while I think that was a defensible #2 selection but obviously in hindsight it looks like a bad decision. Not that I’m saying the Warriors should have taken him but…How did Halliburton drop to #12?!? It’s looking like they did well to dump Jordan Poole.
