NAW: A
Ant: C+ (0-4 with 4 turnovers after the wolves got up 9 with 3 minutes to play)
Mcdaniels: D-
Slow Mo: A
Kat: B (battle but got torched defensively in the 4th and OT)
Naz: B- (offensively amazing defensively equally as bad)
Jmac: B-
Brown: D
Shake: B-
Finch: D (can we run a set for the love of god down the stretch)
Fun game short handed
Kekgeek grades G37 vs Celtics
Re: Kekgeek grades G37 vs Celtics
Fun game, but just pissed off that this team's stars are incapable of making smart decisions with the ball in their hands down the stretch. It's why Finch always has to go back to Conley late in games - he can't trust Ant and KAT. We probably win this game if Conley plays.
I give the refs an F for that push-off call on NAW. You just don't make that call late in a game. A) White clearly sold it, and B) it was on a part of the floor where there was no real advantage being gained. It was an easy no-call.

Ever notice when random plays like that get a HUGE demonstrative reaction from the official?
Kind of weird, right? It's almost like they know they're making a huge call at a critical part of the game and playing it up. Courtney Kirkland was jazzed making that call.

Not bad, but I'm going to disagree with three grades. Jaden didn't shoot well, but his defense on Tatum was extraordinary. Scalabrine raved about it all night...every time Jaden was switched off of Tatum (or was on the bench), Scal kept saying "get the ball to Tatum". He knew Tatum was going to score easily on anyone else. I'll give Jaden a C overall because of what he did on Tatum.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 9:11 pmYou're spot on with these grades and comments Kekkekgeek wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2024 8:52 pm NAW: A

I'll downgrade Finch to an F for deciding to play without a PG for 31 of the 48 minutes. Our magic number is 27 assists...we are undefeated when we have at least that many. And although we kept it close, we had no chance of getting to 27 without a PG.
And on the same lines, I'll downgrade NAW to a B. Yes, he made some big shots, but the ball just didn't move when he was running the offense. Not his fault because he has never been considered a PG at any level of play, but still, you have to perform in the role you are given. In addition, I thought he looked uncharacteristically tired on defense...not surprising considering his 40 minutes after playing the night before.

I haven’t watched the game yet, but the box score tells a different tale about Jaden’s defense. When the guy you guarded scored 45 points (17 points above his average) on 50% FG shooting with 14 trips to the line, I’m not sure your defense can be reasonably characterized as good, much less extraordinary. Maybe extraordinarily bad. Obviously, Jaden’s offense and rebounding was putrid last night.FNG wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 9:03 amNot bad, but I'm going to disagree with three grades. Speaking of Tatum’s 14 trips to the line, there’s another story the box score tells. The Wolves were right there with the Celtics in every statistical category except that the Celtics had 11 more fouls shots than the Wolves. Therein lies the difference and it’s not even close. It was a tie game at the end of regulation. If the Wolves could have been just a little closer in trips to the line they would have won the game in regulation. I’m not sure how much that was biased officiating, but taking a step back and viewing the game from a high level, it was obviously the reason the Wolves lost the game.
Re: Kekgeek grades G37 vs Celtics
Lip, It's true that in the aggregate, FTs was a big reason the Celtics won. But if you had watched it live, you would know that we methodically wrested control of the game from Boston throughout the second half after trading blows in a very tight game, to the point where we built a 9-point lead with 3:35 left in the game. It felt like we had the game in hand!
But due to a combination of great Celtics offensive execution, an absolutely horrible offensive foul call on NAW, and terrible offensive execution by the Wolves, including yet another Ant turnover, we managed to turn a 9-point lead into a 2-point deficit in 3 minutes. To Ant's credit, he did draw a final possession foul and canned both his free throws to tie up the game. But then in OT, he missed all of his shots and turned the ball over again. Perhaps he was gassed, but he just made some terrible decisions with shot selection and a pass that he basically threw to Jrue Holiday who was only two feet away from him.

Lip, 11 of Tatum's points came in the 4 minutes of OT after Jaden fouled out. And many of his other points either came with Jaden on the bench, or after he switched off of him. He frustrated Tatum all night. I think you're a Scalabrine fan...it's telling how excited he got whenever Jaden went to the bench.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 10:04 amI haven’t watched the game yet, but the box score tells a different tale about Jaden’s defense. Re: Kekgeek grades G37 vs Celtics
Jaden only played 24 minutes because every time he breathed on someone he was called for a foul. And then the embellishment by Tatum got him a couple times. I swear, if it was PJ Tucker I'm not sure any of his 6 fouls would have been called. I thought it was that bad. It's almost to the point where the PR department has to put together a compilation tape and send it to the league and request a meeting. This is derailing his career and I don't understand it.
