Hornets at Wolves GDT
Re: Hornets at Wolves GDT
Yes. That’s what I’ve been saying all season even as we’ve been sitting atop the Western Conference. This teams isn’t designed to win an NBA champion in 2023. Maybe in 1985, but not 2023.

Idk our “star” guard is literally shooting 0% when we are losing in clutch situations this year under 2 minutes. 0!!!!!!

That’s a telling stat, kek. I’ve mentioned before that Ant isn’t ready to be the best player on a championship team and your stat along with Ant’s turnover propensity are evidence of that reality. If KAT gets 62 points, especially at home against Charlotte, the Wolves should win the game handily if they’re going to be taken seriously as a championship contender. As I’ve maintained all season, I don’t believe this team is a legitimate contender. I see them as a 4th seed (maybe 3rd) and possibly getting as far as the second round. That’s not a new judgment; that’s what I’ve thought all season. They’ve been better than I thought they’d be, but they’re regressing to their natural mean based on the personnel they have. I’ll continue to enjoy watching a Wolves team that wins more than it loses, but I’m not going to allow myself to be deluded into thinking this is a championship team. It’s not and it wouldn’t be under any head coach.kekgeek wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 11:29 pmIdk our “star” guard is literally shooting 0% when we are losing in clutch situations this year under 2 minutes. 0!!!!!!

I also want to say it’s one game. Even great teams have embarrassing losses

I know it’s different sport but the rangers had 20 game span in August were they went 4-16 and they still won the World Series. If anything I’m happy this happening now because maybe this will push them to do something at the trade deadline.
Re: Hornets at Wolves GDT
I wish it was just this one game. But the Wolves’ grip on winning has looked pretty tenuous for a while now. As more athletic and offensively gifted teams begin to fire on all cylinders in the second half of the season and hone in on the Wolves’ weaknesses I think we’ll continue to see the Wolves level off relative to the rest of the Conference. They’re still a very good team - better than I thought they’d be but not as good as some were beginning to believe they were.
Ant’s not ready yet to be the best player on a championship team and there’s no one else on the roster to carry that mantle. Perhaps he will be there in a couple years but he’s not there yet. Meanwhile, we’re overly dependent on 36 year old PG without a backup we can count on at that position. We lack offensive firepower off the bench with only one player, Naz Reid, who arguably fits that bill.

Wow. That was definitely a vintage Wolves performance. I saw Finch's post game comments, I read between the lines and feel it was a situation where it was Towns getting his and not making the right play (or playing defense). Here is Town's 4th quarter:
11:45 - Karl-Anthony Towns misses 23-foot three point jumper'
10:56 - Karl-Anthony Towns makes 9-foot driving floating jump shot (Jordan McLaughlin assists)
10:26 - Karl-Anthony Towns misses 24-foot three point jumper
09:48 - JT Thor blocks Karl-Anthony Towns 's 5-foot driving layup
09:06 - JT Thor blocks Karl-Anthony Towns 's 4-foot two point shot
08:37 - Karl-Anthony Towns misses 22-foot jumper
06:05 - Karl-Anthony Towns turnover
05:37 - Karl-Anthony Towns makes driving layup (Kyle Anderson assists)
04:03 - Karl-Anthony Towns misses two point shot
00:05 - Leaky Black blocks Karl-Anthony Towns 's 5-foot driving layup
00:01 - Karl-Anthony Towns misses 29-foot three point jumper
I count 11 possessions for him with the following results:
* 2 made shots (4 points total)
* 5 missed shots
* 3 of his shots blocked
* 1 offensive foul/turnover
* Oh - and I'm assuming stellar defense

I won't disagree with the fact that Ant has not been good in clutch situations - facts are facts. But do you know the sample size of this particular metric? Is he 0 for 3 for example? Which is a lot different than 0 for 9 or 0 for 10.kekgeek wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 11:29 pmIdk our “star” guard is literally shooting 0% when we are losing in clutch situations this year under 2 minutes. 0!!!!!!
