With the Bucks firing Griffin today. I think we need ask the question here as well if Finch is right man for the job.
I would say No probably cause I don't want Doc Rivers to become our coach and I think the new ownership would see that as flashy look at us move.
Finch
Re: Finch
I hope not. There are certain nuances to this team that I dont believe a new coach will solve at this point. You have to have the trust of Ant where you can let him be himself and be open to adapting. Finch has been really good developing Ant to date from what I can see. If Ant stops improving that's where I get real on the fire Finch conversations. For this year, he took a situation that most people said wasn't working after last year and has us in first place. I can't see where the fault is after a tougher stretch. I would really like to see us buck convention and stick with some personnel through thick and thin rather than being the old reactionary Wolves. All that being said if he has lost Ant, then kick his ass to the curb. Haha

I think its interesting too. When Finch is implying after every loss his players arent listening to him you have to wonder what is actually going on. Just a weird game from Ant, on the heels of him having that crazy no show in the first half against the Grizzlies. Im going to write off last night as Ant being sick for my own sanity before firing Finch. But this team is not right at present. Nothing the Wizards cant cure though.Jester1534 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 3:24 pmI agree Doper but I just thought was interesting subject because of what the bucks today with them being in 2nd place in the East.thedoper wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 2:33 pm I hope not. I mean...I answered the question honestly..."yes". But context is important.
Would I fire him today? Of course not. But if we finish the season with 35 wins after getting 30 by mid-season? Yes - he gets canned IMO.
My personal opinion is Finch is doing fine. We are literally the top seed in the West after 43 games. I don't think this team will collapse. But if it does collapse, and it not due to injuries...then yeah - that would reflect on the coach IMO. But I guess I'm the only one that feels that way after seeing the poll results!

Re: Finch
I hold Finch responsible for last night's loss. I thought there was a clear loss of control of his team, and that's where a coach starts to cross over to warm seat territory. He had KAT hunting stats and Ant going off script, it really wasn't a good look. But let's be honest, Finchie is a coach of the year candidate due to his work this season. Something awfully terrible would have to happen for him to get fired this season.
Re: Finch
Ant passing the ball last night put the Wolves in the lead by as much as 18 pts. KAT taking every shot worked great until he decided to drive against the entire set defense, kind of life what Ant does, except Ant is slightly better at it. I know everyone says Finch and his offense genius running a free flowing, open offense is great, but God Damn this team is too stupid to run it. We should hire the guy from Hoosiers to beat this team into shape!

Re: Finch
I still don’t understand free Flo offense what is it? Is it just street ball relying on your instincts. I don’t get the point of it. No one can ever explain it. Why is more beneficial than run 4 out one in constant motion offense. It just seems like a clusterfuck or just a new term for streetball/iso ball. It’s like when nfl came up with the term back shoulder throw because nobody before the 2000s ever threw a football to the back shoulder.DNatagal wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 6:14 pm Ant passing the ball last night put the Wolves in the lead by as much as 18 pts. Re: Finch
I joined you Carlos, with a similar "it depends" type caveat. If we truly go on a losing streak of more than 3 or 4 games and fall down the standings in the West, I'd have to consider firing Finch because the only way we keep losing is that we keep making the same mistakes. At that point, you have to ask whether the players are still listening to the coach or if a new voice is needed.Carlos Danger wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 4:24 pm I mean...I answered the question honestly..."yes". I'm of course hoping it doesn't come to that.
Re: Finch
I think you are in the right ballpark with you are thinking of it Jester. My impression is that there are some basic tenets about spacing and of course keeping the ball moving, but that it generally gives players the freedom to attack the defense before it gets set up. A set play generally choreographs what all five players are supposed to do.Jester1534 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 6:43 pmI still don’t understand free Flo offense what is it?
