The word is Atlanta wants two 1st round picks and a player of value. But I look at their roster and don't think a "rebuild" is what they need. Maybe they want the picks for future trades? They have a bunch of guys on longer term contracts, and KAT's big contract looks like they could make it work.
I give no chance at this trade doing down, even though I tossed it out there. I just don't think KAT has regained the kind of value to prick Atlanta's interest.

Re: Wolves Trades?
Terry Rozier just got traded for Kyle Lowry and a 2027 first.
Now, if and when Lowry gets bought out, it's definitely worth making a phone call. Apparently this team can't function without a savvy floor general, so have 48 minutes of it in Conley and Lowry.

Monte Morris is fully practicing. Could we get him without giving up Slomo?
Re: Wolves Trades?
The money and fit for Detroit is a lot harder to make work while still saving room for a guy in the buyout market.
Delon Wright is one of the few candidates where a reasonable deal can be made that works for both sides. Barring that, I suspect we stand pat and fine someone on the buyout market with our one open roster spot and enough room under the luxury tax.
Re: Wolves Trades?
I think the deal woudl be Slo Mo for Morris straight up. The salary match is perfect. Detroit wants more high-IQ vets to help their young guys and Slo Mo fits that bill. We have a positional need (backup PG) along with a skill-set need (scoring/3-point shooting off the bench) and Monte provides both.
I’m not sure I’d do that deal if I were TC. Slo Mo provides a lot of other things this team needs - high IQ, veteran leadership - and does a lot of the little things that don’t show up in the box score. I don’t think we can get Monte without giving up Slo Mo.

I bet Rudy would punch SloMo's ticket out of town. See what I did thereLipoli390 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 10:13 amI think the deal woudl be Slo Mo for Morris straight up. The salary match is perfect. Re: Wolves Trades?
One thing I've noticed this year is SloMo doesn't have a filter. If he wants to get on someone, his stream of consciousness flows freely. I can see where he would get on someone's nerves if you weren't in the mood to receive it.
Re: Wolves Trades?
Good observation, Cool. That’s clearly what happened last season when Rudy took a swing at Slo Mo. Question: Do you think Slo Mo’s unconstrained willingness to get on his teammates is a good of bad thing? I’m really not sure how I land on that question. I tend to think it’s a good thing. MJ certainly didn’t hold back, but of course Slo Mo’s not MJ. Also, if you were in TC’s shoes would you swap Slo Mo for Morris? Just interested in your opinion. Thanks.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 11:34 am One thing I've noticed this year is SloMo doesn't have a filter. If he wants to get on someone, his stream of consciousness flows freely. Re: Wolves Trades?
Minnesota Receives: Monte Morris
Detroit Receives: Shake Milton, Wendell Moore Jr and 2nd RP (2025, likely high 30's)
It would put us 16k over the cap but I'm sure we could do something to balance the books. The other potential problem is it would create 2 open roster spots and no cap space to fill them. However with three 2-way contracts and their ability to be active for 50 games I think it would be manageable. It's not like we use Wendell Moore Jr outside of garbage minutes, and Shake has been a huge disappointment but could regain a bit of value elsewhere with more minutes.
Conley / Morris
Edwards / NAW
McDaniels / Brown Jr
Towns / Anderson
Gobert / Reid
That's a solid, well balanced 10 man rotation!

Lip, I think it can be both a good thing and a bad thing. It's good to have a veteran guy who is willing to keep guys accountable. But I think you need to be able to discriminate in regard to timing. People without a filter tend to not have that ability, and that can be a bad thing IMO.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 25, 2024 1:20 pmGood observation, Cool. I'd like to hang on to SloMo. He makes big plays and we need his experience and ability to play multiple positions. The guy I'd like to pursue is Alec Burks. We've talked about adding offense and that would be a good way to do it.
