All right...we stole a big game 6 on the road last night, and now come home to play game 7 against the Mavericks Wednesday night to get to the finals! Hmm...this is starting to feel a little bit like reality. Maybe?
Mock Playoffs: Dec. 11-Jan. 11

Re: Mock Playoffs: Dec. 11-Jan. 11
Just such a big win in so many ways:
- It vaulted us back into first place in the West.
- It was against a division rival that got the best of us in the prior two meetings.
- It was coming off a terrible loss against the Spurs.
- It was the last game in a fairly rough road trip.
- Mike Conley (aka Daddy) sat out again and the children didn't make a mess of things in the 4th quarter. Growth!

Great point, Q. I'm generally a shameless rose-colored glasses fan, especially this season. But for all the reasons you cite above, I chalked this one up as a loss before and throughout the game. To win a game when the deck appears to be stacked against us is especially gratifying to long-suffering Wolves fans.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2024 8:00 amJust such a big win in so many ways:

Odd that Dallas would have rested its two stars in a Western Conference Game 7, but who am I to complain. Easy win for the Wolves, and we advance to the NBA finals! We open at home Friday with a winnable home game against the Magic, and then go on the road for two tough road games against the Bucks and the Clippers. Should be a fun finals!

It's time to bump this thread...you out there, Drew?
Well, the first three games of the NBA finals have gone against the odds. After a disappointing loss to Orlando, we came back to win two tough games on the road against the Bucks and Clippers to go up 2-1. Next game will be against the Bucks again at home on 2/23. Let's go Wolves!

Regardless of what happens in the real playoffs, we'll always be able to look back with fond memories of our epic mock playoff run!FNG wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 11:46 pm It's time to bump this thread...you out there, Drew?

A bad home loss to the Bucks knots up the finals 2-2. Our road to the championship is rockier now with a home game against the Clippers a week from Sunday, followed by road games against the Pacers and the Lakers. But nothing could be better than winning the NBA title in a game 7 on the Lakers home court (well, I guess I would rather see us beating the Clippers and closing out the series in Indy...we need a road anti-Klunker.

Whoops, I forgot to include the Kings game in my (stolen from Drew) mock playoffs. Ant's halftime trip to Abbott Hospital not only cost us in the standings, but it also put us in a 3-2 hole in the mock playoff finals. Now our only chance of getting that chip rest on beating the Clippers today, and then beating a tough Pacers team on the road next week. Let's go Wolves...you can do this!
