I would love to flip Jmac and some 2nds for Lonnie Walker now

I also think wolves will either give Garza a contract or they will get Doug McDermott in the buyout market

Bobby Marks is implying the Wolves are in the luxury tax now. I am not sure that is right. But he did say Conley has a 750K bonus for making the finals and a 750K bonus for winning it all. That's a lose-lose situations for the front office, isn't it?!?

I really wonder if SloMo might be moved to create some extra room.

This seems like a very good deal. Milton and TBJ have had success elsewhere, but weren't ever able to gain Finchie's trust. Isn't Morris a better shooting version of JMac? (I guess I don't know if he is as disruptive defensively). I always knew he was a good 3-point shooter, but I never realized how good his assist to turnover ratio was. Morris will fit in well as Conley's backup, and might even slot in as a starter next year if Mike leaves. I think he's an unrestrictive free agent though, right? So we'll have to navigate that if he performs well.

Now let's see what TC can do with that extra roster spot. Another shooter please.

Monte Morris has career 48 / 39 / 83 splits and a 4:1 assist turnover ration. He is the perfect backup PG who is capable of starting when and if required. We acquired him for two players who couldn't crack the regular rotation and a distant 2nd RP.

This pushes McLaughlin down to the 3rd PG position where he is best suited and can back up Morris when Conley rests.

I would have loved to have seen the deal expanded to include Slo Mo and an extra 2nd RP for Alec Burk. But I'm not gonna complain. Morris was the guy I wanted with the limited resource we have.

Yes, he's basically a better shooting and better scoring version of JMac. So you get the ball security/game management competence combined with the ability to keep the defense honest and put the ball in the hoop. He's not the ball-hawk Jordan is defensively.

As Kiwi pointed out, Monte Morris has been an absolute model of consistency these last few years - basically take his career slash numbers and there is very little variability year to year. Probably one of the better backup PGs out there and has legit playoff experience. Could slot in for Conley as a starter and I don't think we'd miss much.

This is precisely the sort of deal I wanted the Wolves to make. They get the best fit for what they need without compromising their future or giving up any key contributing players this season. Very smart trade. I don’t know that it will move the needle enough to nudge this team forward into becoming what I’d consider a championship level contender, but it should improve the team if Morris is healthy and gets his game back. And perhaps adding Morris and another piece from the buy-out market will be enough.

If the Spurs buy out McDermott, the Wolves should definitely pursue him.

Getting Lonnie would be a smart move. He’d help limit the offensive drop-off when Ant’s not on the floor. But I don’t think we have enough to get him.
