Lip, why wouldn't you give up Minott? I don't think anyone would place real value on him, but I would certainly trade him if someone wanted him.
Because I don’t see any player we could get by the deadline who would elevate this Wolves team, which is playing barely over .500 the past couple weeks, to a championship level. Therefore, I wouldn’t trade either of our two talented youngsters (Miller or Minott) and further deplete an organization that’s already bereft of draft assets and high-upside young talent. It’s just not worth it. I’d keep my chips and see what can be done more comprehensively this summer.
Minott is a fringe NBA player at best. He will probably be playing in Europe in the next couple years. No reason whatsoever thinking that you have something for the future.
Can we all agree we need to add offense at the deadline? I'm back to wanting to add Alec Burks. I think he would have the biggest impact on our team.
I just did a bunch of number crunching and comparing players. I am on your bandwagon, Cool. Go get Burks.
I had been on the Royce O'Neal bandwagon, but TBJ is not a whole lot different than Royce. Move SloMo and TBJ can fill some of that void, with Burks adding some offensive punch off the bench.
And even with that acquisition, I could see TC figuring out how to get Bones Hyland as well. But it will require getting another team involved, most likely to take Shake.

Yeah, that's an interesting take Lip. I was just assuming the team HAD to do something to shake things up a bit and position itself for a Finals run (or at least give the appearance it's doing so, since some of us don't really believe in them).
But may be the front office and ownership believes deep in their hearts that this team probably doesn't have what it takes, so an upgrade to the 8th or 9th man just isn't going to move the needle enough given the potential costs in assets or cap management. So instead they tell Finchie to deal with the hand he's been dealt and keep tinkering with lineup combinations.
If somehow this team gets it's crap together and goes to the WCF or Finals, then they need to figure out a way to keep most of the band together. If they lose in the first round, Finch is probably gone and KAT probably gets dealt. If we win one series and then lose the next, that poses more of a dilemma. It's improvement, but still kind of disappointing given the regular season we've had.
And don't forget the buyout market. Maybe nothing happens at the trade deadline, but the Wolves still have a roster spot and tax space to sign someone.
But I think this recent floundering will push TC to make some sort of fringe movement at the trade deadline AND preserve a roster spot and tax space for the buyout market.
This is not a specific trade proposal, but if you move out the salaries of Shake and SloMo, you can take back the salaries of Burks and Bones (isn't that a Harry Potter thing?!?) and still have a roster spot and tax space. Just sayin'.
Normally, I would say a SloMo trade is unlikely. But when you consider how often Finch laments about spacing on the offensive end, isn't SloMo a space killer? Mmmm...

Thursday is right around the corner!
I remember quite a bit of Alec Burks talk on this forum... several years ago. And then a few years ago. And then yet again.
The Wolves have no PG under contract for next season. Conley, Morris and Jmac are all unrestricted FAs. Bones is under contract for next year and the Clippers are looking to find him a new home. Jmac and a 2nd rounder might do the trick, preserving our tax space this year and securing some PG stability for next year.
And one comment I read on the Royce O’Neal front which I haven’t seen mentioned lately: Royce was one one of Rudy’s closest friends on that Utah team. It almost seems inevitable that we go after him!

Just thinking out loud…
I think it’s likely McLaughlin at this moment is a better player right now than Bones. I get that Bones could have a place and has some upside and is reasonably easily available. If the Clippers want a random 2nd rounder in return for Bones send them Moore. IMO the Wolves still need McLaughlin with Conley and Morris guys that are injury risks. McLaughlin himself is an injury risk but I like having that trio of PGs.

I agree. JMac back as #3 PG - I see real value there. We all know he can be effective in spots. But none of us were comfortable relying on him too much. No need to move out cheap and productive guys.

Yeah, I agree that JMac is a much better option on this team than Bones. I understand Tim's concern that all three of our PGs are unrestricted free agents, but in TC we trust...he'll figure this one out.
One aspect of trades that isn't often discussed is the impact on team chemistry. The Wolves have great chemistry this year, and that has had a very positive impact on the season. And yesterday's trade didn't hurt chemistry at all. TBJ and Milton never seemed to be important guys in the clubhouse or on the bench, and I don't they will be missed too much. And the only player who might feel slighted by the trade because his minutes will be diminished, JMac, doesn't seem to be the kind of guy who is going to poison the locker room with pouting...I think he'll be the same guy. But while I like some of the SloMo trades I'm seeing bandied about here, I do have some concerns about rocking the boat. Kyle appears to be a leader in the clubhouse and always in the middle of things...TC is likely keeping this in mind as he ponders moving him.
