Buyout Market
Re: Buyout Market
It’s worth noting that there are other guys out there that could be worth signing beyond the buyout market. Austin Rivers has already been brought up and he would be a guy that would be worth brining in if a guard got hurt and they just needed a solid vet but the wolves currently need a depth forward and or someone who could provide some scoring off the bench and overall we are hoping for something better than Rivers and there might be some FA out there that might fit that description. There also young players that might be worth signing as well.
Re: Buyout Market
It sucks that we didn't have a chance at Spencer Dinwiddie. The Lakers outbid us with a 1 dollar bonus should they win the title. Damn major markets.
Re: Buyout Market
lol
I am kind of disappointed we haven't had s whiff of who the Wolves are looking at or who might be interested in the Wolves. I mean, come on, it's been 3 days!
I am hoping Gallinari is coming our way. After all, he and Monte Morris were teammates for a cup of coffee!

Marcus Morris, Joe Harris, or Evan Fournier seem more like a consolation prize, but I would take it.
Re: Buyout Market
No interest in Marcus Morris whatsoever. Too much baggage.
Pick of the bunch for me is Gallinari or Fournier. Both can shoot and slot in if required.
15th spot can go to Garza. Although I'm not sure how 2way contract in to regular contracts works against the cap.

Re: Buyout Market
Yeah, I think converting Garza makes sense, although they can just wait until whatever the deadline is for have a player signed to be counted on the playoff roster. The $s I believe are the same as signing a FA, so the Wolves have just enough room to add two vet minimum contracts.KiwiMatt wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 7:42 pm No interest in Marcus Morris whatsoever. Re: Buyout Market
I’d guess part of what may have helped as much as anything is it seemed like the Lakers had a need for him more than we did. Where/when was he gonna play if he signed here?60WinTim wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 6:53 pmlol

Re: Buyout Market
There is a history of teams signing guys off 2-way deals to NBA contracts the last day or whatever of the season. It would make sense to sign Garza to one of those deals.60WinTim wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 8:47 pmYeah, I think converting Garza makes sense, although they can just wait until whatever the deadline is for have a player signed to be counted on the playoff roster. I’ve been a fan of Gallo for years but I don’t really see where he fits on this roster as I assume he is basically just a PF now. I get he is a shooter but I don’t know when he would play unless there is an injury or maybe throw him in a situation where you are trying to make a 3 late in a game. In the playoffs I would feel better about him playing minutes if needed than say Garza or Minott but I don’t know for sure what he has left. You can say that about a bunch of these guys though.
I read somewhere the Wolves are actually interested in Morris. He would bring some toughness and versatility.
Re: Buyout Market
Yes, it’s been reported that the Wolves are interested in Marcus Morris. He’d be my first choice among those mentioned as possible buy-out candidates. He can shoot the three, but as you noted he would also bring toughness. Gallo and Fournier would be my consolation prizes if we can’t sign Morris.Monster wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 10:34 pmThere is a history of teams signing guys off 2-way deals to NBA contracts the last day or whatever of the season. Re: Buyout Market
I want to say that I like the idea of adding Fournier. I’ve liked him for quite a while also. It wasn’t that long ago he was a pretty nice player and would have been a guy that seemed like would have been a nice 6th man. At 31 He has some decent size and is a volume 3 point shooter. Maybe he is a guy that doesn’t play well unless he plays legit minutes but he feels like he could be a guy that ends up being a similarly valuable player to Dinwiddie although his game is different. He theoretically offers much more shooting which the Wolves need.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 10:44 pmYes, it’s been reported that the Wolves are interested in Marcus Morris. I get the Morris brothers confused so finally looked him up. If the Wolves got him he is a guy that’s started a lot of games for good teams the last few years and played in 67 playoff games. I think he is more of a PF now but probably can play some SF still and may get be a good matchup if needed against some teams. Idk what his other options will be.
Ultimately it would be nice to add a vet in the buyout market that theoretically does at least 1 thing well so if they are needed the Wolves have someone they can turn to in the playoffs or even a few games in the regular season.
Remind are other guys that have been FA all year sign after March 1 and be eligible for the playoffs? I don’t remember and I don’t feel like looking it up. Lol
Re: Buyout Market
Sounds like Marcus Morris is leaning to sign with the Wolves, according to the PatBev pod/hoopshype
