I'm so happy right now. 2 more years of mentoring for Ant underneath this man.

No idea how this well effect the 2nd apron stuff I leave it to you guy to explain it to me.

He is making $24m this year. That is quite the discount!

Yeah, that's a really good deal for the Wolves. Mike's decline could continue, and he might miss some more games, but even so, that's a good deal.

The aprons really don't mean much because they really aren't looking to go out and sign anyone. Monte Morris and SloMo would be the FAs the Wolves would like retain this summer.

That’s a good deal basically they are paying him like a rotation player not a starter. That’s a few million less a year than the mid-level. That Russell trade keeps looking really good.

Meanwhile I think Conley taking this deal leaves the door open for other players to come back or maybe even be willing to take a reasonable deal to do so. I’m talking Kyle Anderson or probably more specifically Monte Morris.

While I don’t want to overstate Conley’s presence as a vet I think he is an excellent player to have teaching a guard how to play. Conley can run a team and play off the ball. That is the type of guy you would want next to Edwards. Can the Wolves find the right guy for Conley to mentor?

And one last thing let’s say Conley falls completely apart after this season. 2 years 22 million is not a terrible deal to have to move and sometimes you need a salary to match like in the Morris deal. Some young team may even want to bring Conley on as a leader type to help them even if he isn’t all that good on the floor. It seems like Conley has at least one more worthwhile year left in him but yeah there isn’t much downside which is not a small thing.

I guest a contract extension of 2 years 20 mil so happy with that. Interested as to how it's is structured, whether its more the first year then declining the next.

Now to get Monte Morris resigned. And if Kyle is willing to have a pay cut I'd be happy to have him back. I'm talking vet min lol.

Makes sense. He's got a wife and school-aged kids and I think they may want to avoid being uprooted again, which was a pretty tough experience previously when he came over from Utah. They also - as the wealthy like to say - "summer" in Columbus, Ohio (not the most sexy of destinations, but he did go to OSU) which is a pretty short flight away from Minneapolis.

Amazing to compare the plights of Conley and his former Buckeye teammate Greg Oden. They came out the same year and Oden was thought to be the big prize. It seems like forever since Oden played, and Conley continues to take in $Millions.

It’s not a huge deal but moving does also cost money. Another thing to consider instead of having to figure out where he moves his family maybe he picks up an extra endorsement deal or does some appearances or maybe does some TV work. Right now he might be in a great position to get some endorsement money in MN. That money might not be in whatever spot he lands next. These aren’t big chunks of money in NBA terms but staying in MN could afford him some more experiences that he may not feel like he can do if he had other things to think about.

I think the fact that he signed for this kind of money makes it clear he wanted to stay here. A no trade clause makes plenty of sense.
