Still think Oakland's rotation is better.

Yep, good move by the Tigers, but Oakland is still the team to beat in the AL...it's going to be a great series though.

I like the Tigers rotation in the playoffs more but I think that rotation wise that Oakland is deeper.
Xfactor is that the tigers bullpen sucks ass

Re: Trade deadline news
It's an hour after the deadline, and no more news about Twins trades...too bad, I was really hoping they could at least get something for Willy or Correia.
Suzuki signs for $12 million over two years. I'm good with that. He's in excellent shape (just look at how well he runs the bases) and consistently has professional at bats. I like him in the clubhouse as a solid veteran role model for this young team...seems like a great guy. Twins say they are committed to doing a tandem deal with Pinto, and I think that makes sense. I love Pinto's potential, but he clearly needs some seasoning.
Isn't it great we have some baseball to talk about while waiting out the excruciating 30 days after Wiggins' signing?!

Wish Willingham would have been dealt, but nobody was interested enough to pull the trigger. Oh well.

Yeah, I really thought the Yankees would step up and get him. I just saw a tweet from Seth Stohs (my favorite Twins source) that the Vargas promotion signaled that the Twins thought they had a Willingham deal in place. I agree, because Willy and Vargas are mostly DH's.
Re: Trade deadline news
Milone deal was a perfect storm for the Twins. Its really great to get a young lefty with actual success in the majors. Nice
Suzuki's deal seems great as far as I am concerned. I thought he might have to get paid more than that to re-sign. 6 million per seems like a good deal to me. I don't expect him to hit as well next year but Suzuki has had success. With the bat in the past so this year isn't a total fluke either. I have no confidence in the young catchers right now in the organization to be complete players in the next 12 months so getting Suzuki back is a good move. Also he has some familiarity with Milone right? My brother made an interesting point that would Suzuki stayed if he thought this team was going nowhere? Maybe but after 1 terrific year he could have cashed in like other guys did last year and he stayed.
I was thinking the Twins would just move Williangham but maybe there were no takers at this point. There was a lot of movement so that might have been part of why he didn't find a new home. He hasn't. Done. A lot this year but his limited stats are worth considering if a team is looking for a bat. I was thinking he might be a trade waiver type guy when teams are getting more desperate looking for that last jolt before the end of the year. I'll be shocked if he isn't moved at some point this year if he is healthy.

Reports were that the Yankees were interested in Willingham but I'm guessing they just decided to not make a deal even though in that ball park I think he would've help them contend for a wild card spot or the division. I think the twins would've made the deal because I'm sure josh wants a shot at the playoffs so late in his career.
Kurt deal is nice I'm guessing if he went FA route he would've got 7-8 mil for one year based on his age but I'm guessing he was liking the two year offer. Also he know these kids are coming up, two years from now May, Meyer, Berrios will be up with a chance for Stewart and Thorpe of being up as well.

Re: Trade deadline news
I have a question about the Willingham deal and I thought I would post it here rather than start a new thread:
According to BSPN, the Royals are making room for JW by waiving Wilking Rodriguez, a 24 y/o relief pitcher who has yet to give up a run in the bigs. Now I know the bullpen is not their most pressing concern, but Guerrier is definitely not coming back, and it wouldn't surprise me if Burton, Swarzak, and Tonkin are all gone by 4/1/15, and you really can't have enough pitching, so why not just take that guy as well as that somewhat mediocre AA pitcher they got?
