I get that the G-League guys and player development isn't really going to impact this season, but holy hell is it important for future years given our salary situation, so the situation down there is very frustrating to me.
It's not just the crappy record that is disappointing. It's the way they lose, with a total disregard for defense. That is totally antithetical to the culture of the NBA Wolves. And it seems like Minott and Moore, Jr. don't even play down there anymore. Why the hell not!? Unlike Garza, they have NOT outgrown that league. And finally, there is Leonard Miller, who is forced to play out of position as Center and hasn't really shown any interest in playing defense.
As an outsider, it looks to me that Tim Connelly isn't taking the G-League team seriously - it's borderline neglectful.

Yeah! None of the young guys improved this year (as far as any of us can tell anyway). They pluck a 30 year old TJ Warren off the street and play him ahead of someone like Minott...not exactly an endorsement for his future.
And another thing! Why has there not been any updates on Jalen Clark? He was drafted almost a year ago and that was the last update (expected to be return in February of 2024). Well? We're waiting.....

Agreed, the lack of any Clark update is frustrating too. It's been a year since he tore his achilles and had surgery! I know it's a long recover for this injury, but he's still a young guy that can focus 100% of his time on recovery.

Most interesting to me was looking at the Mexican side...I see Kenneth Faried. Why is that guy not a Wolf? We have an open spot. I always thought he was a pretty capable big man. 18 points and 18 rebounds in this one.

Faried's absence from the NBA is a mystery to me too. I feel like I've just seen him in a game, but he hasn't played since 2019...and that year he averaged 19.1/12.2 per 36 for Houston at age 29. They always said he couldn't shoot, but he had a 62.2 TS% that last season despite taking only 20 3's. And for you, Anthony, a positive VORP every year of his career. So why hasn't any team needing rebounding not taken a chance on him for 5 years? Was it the marijuana incident in 2019? His outspoken support of the LGBQ community (his mom left his dad to marry another woman)? Who knows? But he continues to put up double doubles everywhere he goes.

I highly doubt it was the pot incident or support of LGBTQ. Of all the major men's sports leagues, the NBA probably leans the most liberal and has the most liberal fanbase.
The reality is that the modern game passed him by. NBA front offices simply don't value great rebounders that much if they can't defend at a high level and/or shoot at a high level. He wasn't a great defender and had very limited range.
A more recent example is Andre Drummond. The man is an absolute monster on the boards and was a starting Center for years with Detroit. But the last few years he's been relegated to a backup role and plays 15-20 MPG. Nothing about his skillset or athleticism has really changed. He's still the same player he was, but his game just isn't refined enough on offense or guarding in space on defense to justify a starting role.
And an even more recent example is Oscar Tshiebwe, the rookie out of Kentucky and national player of the year. As a 24-year old rookie, he's doing great for the Indiana Mad Ants, but can't get into the rotation for the Pacers and may never carve out a regular role for himself in the NBA.

Great examples, Q...I'm convinced. You may remember I advocated for drafting Oscar a year BEFORE he declared...thought he could be a double double monster. I guess I was way wrong on that one!
