Well, was it Marcus's decision, or was it the Wolves' decision? I was on the fence as to whether we wanted to bring in Morris...maybe the Wolves' brass was too.60WinTim wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 11:25 pmYeah, I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind Marcus's decision.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2024 11:04 pmBummer. I wonder if KAT’s injury had anything to do with his decision. On the other hand, I have a hard time believing that he’d consider the Cavs a better bet than the Wolves to win a title. The Cavs will have to get past the Bucks and ultimately the best team in basketball, the Celtics. Well, we’d better sign TJ for the rest of the season and playoffs.
But I am pretty confident TJ Warren will be with us for the rest of the season and into the playoffs. The question remains on if we will add a 15th player...
TJ Warren and ?

Re: TJ Warren and ?
True. TJ Warren and Marcus Morris have a bit of overlap. So sticking with TJ Warren over Marcus Morris makes sense. I still think it would be wise to bring in someone who could take some minutes behind Rudy.FNG wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 9:53 amWell, was it Marcus's decision, or was it the Wolves' decision? And Shams with the news:
TJ Warren is signing a second 10-day contract with the Timberwolves, sources said. Warren has averaged nearly five points in 16 minutes a game over four contests for Minnesota.

Re: TJ Warren and ?
I still think TJ Warren is more a repudiation of Connelly's last two drafts than any kind of pick-up that can really help us much. I mean, he's a well known vet around the league and literally no one found room for him on their roster until we did.
I will agree he has been a solid "do no harm" player for us so far, but the fact we couldn't develop that from any of our last two sets of drafts is very telling. Especially Moore, Jr. since he wasn't considered a speculative pick at all, but a guy who could potentially contribute right away.
(end of negative rant

100% what you wrote. TJ Warren is "just a guy" or body at this point. It's sad that Minott and/or Miller haven't shown enough to Finch to get those minutes. I know it's not apples to apples because Minott's minutes come in garbage time, but look at the YTD totals:Q-is-here wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2024 7:59 pm I still think TJ Warren is more a repudiation of Connelly's last two drafts than any kind of pick-up that can really help us much. Warren: 80 minutes. 21 points. 12 rebounds. 4.1 PER and -0.1 VORP
JMinott 67 minutes. 38 points. 13 rebounds. 19.0 PER and 0.1 VORP
Again - Finch sees these guys every day - so I trust him. And I certainly can't fault his results. But man...it's up to Minott to prove he's a better option (I'm assuming in practice and the G league).
Re: TJ Warren and ?
Yeah, I'm getting close to wanting to see Finch work Minott into the rotation (in a small way, like 9th/10th man type minutes). I've been a Minott skeptic, but given our health situation and the underwhelming nature of TJ Warren, is there that much to lose? These Utah games would have been a good opportunity, but alas....Carlos Danger wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2024 6:09 am100% what you wrote. TJ Warren is "just a guy" or body at this point. Re: TJ Warren and ?
TJ Warren has been signed for the remainder of the season and will be eligible for the playoffs. No surprise since he know has 20 days under his belt with the Wolves AND the Wolves had to add somebody.
If I had to bet money on that 15th roster spot, I would bet on the Wolves converting Garza to a standard contract just before the playoffs.

Re: TJ Warren and ?
I'd be fine with converting Garza. They certainly should add someone and at this point - what is a better option? I am a little disappointed that the ballyhooed "buyout market" was essentially a bust. I mean...TJ Warren? Pfft. I was hoping for better.60WinTim wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 10:35 am TJ Warren has been signed for the remainder of the season and will be eligible for the playoffs. Re: TJ Warren and ?
You know, isn't interesting that the Wolves didn't find someone on the buyout/FA market to help fill KAT's role positionally? Could this be a signal of what might happen this offseason regarding KAT?Carlos Danger wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 11:06 amI'd be fine with converting Garza. Re: TJ Warren and ?
Minott isn't a rotational player on a contending team. He may find a niche somewhere but not here, not now.
