Watched the Iowa Wolves game today.

There is no talent there to be too excited about in this game. Maybe one of Keels, Martin, Carton, Wheeler, or Cooke pans out. Then hopeful for one of Minott or Miller. Garza is what he is; a 4th/5th big.

We're wasting time/roster spots on Nix, Moore Jr (he wasn't in this game, but still). Let them go play on a different continent.

From this game, I'd rather bring up Lance and sign Faried for those spots.

Was Carton there? I thought he signed a 2-way with Toronto?

I think if they thought Lance could help, he would have been brought in instead of TJ Warren.

I suppose the thinking was to stock the team with mediocre players so our guys would have the opportunity to stand out. Oh well.

I hadn't watched a game in awhile, and did not see Carton on the floor. So you're likely right, but he showed some talent in earlier games and is young.

Nix looked terrible. None of the rest looked that good either, but I'd prefer to just see Minott and Miller there full-time for the next year or two.

Lance likely isn't the answer, but I'd target vets who can play for 4-8 minutes and know the drill, rather than trying to prove out. Nix and Moore are a waste of time.

Yeah, I watched a number of Iowa games earlier in the year and I agree that Carton was ultimately the guy that stood out the most to me as "NBA ready", but he wasn't under contract and obviously we are pretty well set with Conley/Monte/JMac for this season. Hell, I'd argue that Finch has a real competition on his hands between JMac and Monte when it comes to Conley's main backup. What a great problem to have! Bottom line is that we had no room for Carton.

Miller and Minott started together for a number of games and were a disaster defensively, with Miller being the worst of the two. Both show potential on offense. But Minott hasn't played in Iowa for weeks now, so I don't know what the hell they are thinking. I'd like Finch to sneak him in for a few minutes a night, especially against a team like Utah. Get his feet wet beyond garbage time.

Another solid defensive effort for the Iowa team last night - losing 142-124.

Daishen Nix is really the only guy of interest playing there right now and he continues to put up big numbers: 31 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in this one. At least both he and Garza both have dominated the G when playing. I feel like both can be that last guy on a lot of NBA rosters. But neither guy is going to get much run on this year's Timberwolves.

Another loss for Iowa last night:

https://gleague.nba.com/game/aus-vs-iwa ... =box-score

Tyrese Martin had 25 points and 17 rebounds.
Daishen Nix had 29 points and 9 assists.
Jaylen Clark did not play.

Team defense was as stout as usual. They play again tonight in what looks like the last game of the season (thankfully). There's just not a lot to get excited about down there other than hoping Clark gets his feet wet tonight.

Iowa had their first game tonight and won. The starters were Jesse Edwards, Leonard Miller, Trevor Keels, Daishen Nix, and Jaylen Clark.

I watched the first half and then switched to the Wolves. Here are a few quick notes on the relevant guys:

- Jaylen Clark was, as expected, super disruptive defensively, pretty much useless offensively. He's got a looooooong ways to go to become a NAW replacement. Clark makes NAW look like Anthony Edwards on offense.

- Leonard Miller and Daishen Nix are the two most talented Iowa Wolves. Both are kind of boom or bust players though. They mix in great plays with a strong dose of boneheaded plays thrown in. I found myself saying, "What are you doing!?" too often, but in the end their talent won the day on this night.

- Jesse Edwards was mediocre.

I didn't watch the game, but Nix with 45 points in an OT win for Iowa tonight. The dude has been ballin' ever since summer league!

Nix - 45 pts, 10 rebs, 8 assists
Miller - 19 pts (just 5-16 shooting though), 11 rebs, 4 assists
Clark - 17 pts, 5 rebs, 3 assts, 3 steals (6 fouls and 5 turnovers though).

I think Nix is outgrowing the G-League at this point. My biggest criticism of him is that he makes too many boneheaded plays, but you can't argue with the good things he does too. He can be a real badass on defense too.

Good to see Clark score...made his only 3 pt attempt too.

Clark with a big game in another Iowa win tonight. 21 points on 8-13 shooting, including 5-6 from 3. He added 4 steals and was a team-leading +21 in a 9 point win.

This is the guy to keep an eye on, not because he's some hugely touted prospect, but because he is basically NAW 2.0 with a little less ball handling. His offense has always been the biggest hurdle and this is now a couple games where he's produced on that end. The defense will always be there.

Nix with 21 points on 24 shots and 5 turnovers. That dude uses a lot of possessions.

Leonard Miller with a nice game - 23 points and 18 rebounds. He looks better in Iowa playing PF next to Jesse Edwards rather than being the Center like he was last year.

Iowa Wolves now 4-0 to open the G-League season. What a turnaround from last season. They have the 3rd best defense in the G-League and I think a lot of that can be attributed to having Clark in the lineup and having Leonard Miller play mostly PF instead of C.
