Board Extinction
Guys, our numbers seem to be dwindling and activity isn't where it needs to be. We could really use some of our past high activity posters to step back up. Lip, what's going on? Abe, how about you? SP, SJM, Sab, WorldK, PapalRep, Volans, Hockey, Bleedspeed, Camden, Duke, Hicks, Mstrmisty, The Future, Tactical Unit, KG4ever, Sundog - Step your games up.

Re: Board Extinction
I think it's easier to bitch and complain when the team is bad.
We have less to talk about and I think guys are simply enjoying it. I know I've been posting less also. The team is great, cool. Now what?

Re: Board Extinction
Life is busy lately, that and I'm a casual fan which makes it easy to see flaws in a bad team, harder when they're good. I still read regularly!

Well, for my part, I disengaged after the first few weeks of the season because there was too much negativity here. Folks weren’t embracing how well the team was playing, but instead were dissecting how Gobert was going to get played off the floor, whether Ant was going to take another leap, how devastating the second apron was going to be. I get that negativity from the voices in my own head, I didn’t need to get it here, lol. I still monitor the board regularly but disengaging helped me to enjoy this season.
Re: Board Extinction
I wish some of the former "regulars" would post more again as well - including you Jester! - especially in a season like this one! It's an unfortunate reality with a homegrown site like this (thank you Tim!) and Enjin versus something tied to a larger platform like the old ESPN board. It makes it difficult for new folks and fresh perspectives to discover the site and so gradually attrition takes its course as folks move on for whatever reason.
I also think there is something to the idea that there is less to talk about when things are going well and there are no real controversies. We're past the trade deadline, we don't have a lottery pick, and everyone seems pretty happy with Finch and Connelly. And the ownership dispute has sort of been put on the backburner until the offseason. Wait until we lose our 1st round series and then you'll see this place really pick up!

Cool. I agree that the volume of posts is reduced from previous years, but I also agree with the take above that passionate fans tend to post when things are going poorly and we have a whipping boy (or boys) than when things are going well. We all love this team, and it feels good to vent when they disappoint us! My own posts are an example. We have an exciting young player who has captured the attention of all NBA fans and has a chance to become the face of the NBA. And yet my posts about Ant more often complain about him when he frustrates me than praise him when he does something brilliant (which is often)...we're critics, and to some extent that's human nature. I don't see that as a bad thing though. And I would add that the quality of the posts and maturity level of the board is far better than it was in the past. The board used to be full of repetitive takes and petty arguments that I frankly found tiresome...it would drive me away from the board occasionally. Sure the volume is down (although I expect it to pick up when we get to the playoffs), but I find my visits to the board are much more consistently rewarding than they used to be. There are some very good basketball minds here and they come from different perspectives, and I almost always learn something when I tune in. This is a huge contrast to the old days when I would have to read silly little arguments that would leave me shaking my head and wondering why I was wasting my time here. The volume may be down, but I find the quality to be much better.

Re: Board Extinction
Good thread. I'll add my thoughts:
First, since the DLO trade, there really isn't much arguing anymore. Think about it. One good online fight used to be worth pages of activity
.
Another thing I've pondered...I think a lot of people enjoy the "like" button. As much as I hate myself for admitting it, I sort of like it too. Sometimes you take the time to pull data and post something and without likes you don't really get much feedback. So it's like..."why did I bother wasting my time?"
Now, we all owe this entire forum to 60WinTim, so me mentioning the lack of "like" button is not meant to be a shot at him in any way, shape or form. I'm just saying...if he can find a way to add that feature, it might help activity.
But beyond that, like button or not, everyone that reads this forum needs to just look in the mirror and do their part. It's a great season - start chiming in!!!!
