Yes, in this case Simmons would be used purely for salary-matching purposes whereas his name was bandied about in years' past because some folks thought he could actually add value on the court. That appears to no longer be the case between all his mental and physical issues.

In terms of the "whatever else" in addition to Simmons, that's where things become problematic. Like the Wolves, Brooklyn has traded a way a bunch of their first rounders! I don't think they even have a pick in 2024.

As Tim said, he's searched far and wide for potential KAT landing spots, but even if there is an interested counter-party, we have to be satisfied with the return. Is salary relief plus some distant 1st rounder or two enough?? Not for me. I'd like a combination of salary relief and a rotation-level player (for example, an elite bench shooter).

This is why Naz and/or Jaden are probably the more moveable pieces. I like our team and may be they run most of the core back next year, but we aren't the owners!
A while back I saw a Vegas odds that said if the Nets bit the bullet and bought out Simmons contract this summer, the Wolves would be the most likely landing spot for him.
That would not surprise me one bit. With the wolves more than likely losing Slow Mo this offseason Simmons feels like a good addition to take a flyer on for the min of bought out
Ben Simmons as anything on the basketball court is dead. It's not gonna happen for him.

That said, I can see the Wolves giving KAT away for Simmons, DFS and maybe 2 of those Phoenix picks protected and then telling Ben Simmons to go home.

Long term, the issue is gonna come about twofold:

1. Connelly at best has been iffy with his picks, so excuse me if I don't trust him on draft night. 2 more rookies on top of 6 other guys Finch will never trust (Miller, Minott, Clark, Moore, and the other two-ways)

2. The Wolves would be giving KAT away in an attempt to go under the 2nd apron only to go right back over it potentially with Reid. Things would be so much better if Miller or Minott were getting meaningful minutes and actually contributing.

First of all, it's good news that KAT may be coming back soon. If he can get in a couple games before the playoffs to ramp up a bit, that's better than stepping straight into playoff basketball.

With Towns coming back, I wonder what you guys think will happen--and should happen.

1. Will Towns come off the bench? If so, at what point, if any, do you start him again?

2. What will our playoff rotation be with KAT back? Who will see their minutes get cut the most?

3. Will KAT shoot more catch and shoot 3s and drive less coming off this injury? I hope so.

First off, I need to grab my knife/fork and eat some crow. I originally kicked this thread off after his surgury and predicted he wasn't going to be back until (if) we reach the finals. Pretty sure I'm going to be wrong on that based on recent reports  . Not the first time and won't be the last. Be kind!

Regarding your questions.

1.) No way he's coming off the bench IMO (take that for what it's worth - ha!). I assume he goes right back to his former role.
2.) Good question. But I think it's safe to say we won't be seeing any more of TJ Warren.
3.) Fingers crossed on that!

Agree with Carlos here. He is absolutely starting and it wouldn't surprise me if he starts in the Atlanta and Phoenix games, but with a minutes restriction. They need to get into playoff mode/rotations ASAP, which means Naz needs to get used to coming off the bench again.
