The Wolves were beaten to a pulp and embarrassed
The good news. The expectations and pressure are all on Denver to make the finals after they essentially secured the 1 spot after that kick to the face of the Wolves. Being a heavy underdog now puts this team in a mental place to possibly even play better in the playoffs. The comeback story is more interesting too. The national media won't hype them up at all. It's all about Denver and how much better they have been then everyone else. Not even Perk will pick the Wolves now.

It was one game. We could say that we beat them to a pulp and embarrassed them two weeks ago (on their home court). I think it's a pretty tall order to beat the defending champs twice in a row on their home court. It was not our best game. Tip our hat to them and let's wait for the next round.
But to your point, I'm fine with being an under dog. We are Rocky I and they are Apollo Creed.

I'm bummed. We kind of saw the truth in the 4th quarter. Our execution was not close to the way the composed Nuggets dismantled us. We held that 2-5 point for a long stretch, but I just had the feeling that once Denver got over the hump we were in trouble. Finally they took the lead, Ant came down on the next possession and attempted an impossible shot from the left corner and the champs were off to the races. But, every experience should help us as we move along our trajectory as a team. Important that we take care of business now and secure the 2nd seed.
The loss that really stings is the one to the Bulls.

wait til you're an underdog against whoever you face as the 2 or 3 seed.

We did beat them back then, but this game was really the major decider for the entire regular season 1 seed. It was on ESPN also so a major national audience (I forget if the other game was, I don't think so). Denver is in pole position now and should, minus a major fuckup, secure home court.Carlos Danger wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 8:25 am It was one game. The brightside is we are now going to be widespread underdogs (Rocky to Creed) to reach the finals. The pressure is all on Denver and I think they are fine with that. I also think as a team we are really not all that worse off being the 2 seed. I do think homecourt in a potential round 2 is still important though. So lock these last two games up and get that.

As much as Towns gets on my nerves, he is SORELY missed in these Denver matchups.

I saw so many missed rebounds that KAT would have probably gotten over Naz. We couldn't really defend and board with Naz at center. It's the non Rudy minutes that really need KAT too. Naz struggled with Jokic (most do though to be fair OF COURSE!), and I think KAT has done a bit better in the past at least limiting him a bit more. Joker just dominated last night. He got whatever he wanted and we couldn't stop it. A few bad calls too, but I don't think we lost because of a few calls either.BloopOracle wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 1:51 pm As much as Towns gets on my nerves, he is SORELY missed in these Denver matchups.
So yeah we do need KAT back. I just hope he can be more level headed and in control consistently. I think he's done a pretty good job this season.
