Around the League - '23-24 Season

Thunder lose! Love it! Hope that series goes 7 games.

I know it's the wrong thing to do, but I can't help it...I'm scoreboard watching and analyzing the impact of each game on our chances for a championship! And the results last night were all helpful to us. I think I'd rather face the Mavs with home court advantage than the Thunder. I'd rather face the Cavs than the Celtics. And OG's injury hurts the Knicks chances (and they seem to be kind of a team of destiny this season). First order of business is to take care of the Nuggets, but it's fun to be invested in the other series too!

Yeah, I'm keeping an eye on them because they are interesting for their own sake to me, but also because of the Wolves angle.FNG wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 9:25 amI know it's the wrong thing to do, but I can't help it...I'm scoreboard watching and analyzing the impact of each game on our chances for a championship! What's so funny is that the Wolves have the 4th best defense in the playoffs and the #1 offense. You'd think it would be the other way around, but this 6-game winning streak has been fueled largely by a great defense and an even better offense. Ant and KAT are finally both hitting on all cylinders offensively, limiting their turnovers and really shooting the ball well.
I need to watch a bit more OKC and Dallas to see who I'd prefer as an opponent assuming we win the Denver series. Right now I'm on the fence.

I'm on the fence too, and I actually think Dallas might be a little tougher for us to beat. But having one extra home game could be crucial (even though we're 4-0 on the road in the playoffs!), so right now I'm leaning Dallas.

I’m curious Q what the wolves defensive rating would be without the suns game 4 game. There has been 1 outlier game in terms of the wolves defense.FNG wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 9:53 amQ-is-here wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 9:46 amYeah, I'm keeping an eye on them because they are interesting for their own sake to me, but also because of the Wolves angle.FNG wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 9:25 am

I would rather play the Mavs. But I’m not scared of either team. Dort is probably the only guy in the West who could make Ant life tough. Also I don’t want to watch the flopping of SGA either. Also the Thunder have multiple options on how they can play while the Mavs are sort of 1 dimensional team albeit a very good dimension.
With that said this series with the nuggets is not over.

Kek, Might be an exercise in futility since, to be fair, I'd have to take the highest opponent scoring game out of the other teams ranked higher than Minnesota.kekgeek wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 11:11 amI’m curious Q what the wolves defensive rating would be without the suns game 4 game. But considering who we are playing and the offensive superstars they have, being ranked #4 is actually pretty damn impressive. Imagine if we had played a team like Orlando in the first series! Or even the Knicks who have one guy basically.
So the eye test and context suggest that we actually do have the best defense in the playoffs, even though statistically it isn't true.

We would beat Dallas in 4 or 5 games. They have no shot against us, none. OKC could give us a better series, but they can't beat us either.

They looked pretty solid down the stretch of the season, but the bigs Dallas were so excited about Gafford and Lively looked borderline unplayable in the 4th quarter.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 12:26 pm We would beat Dallas in 4 or 5 games. I think we would beat either team but would prefer Dallas. Homecourt would be nice, but my main reason is Dallas not having any Lu Dort type players. I'd like the streak of Antman facing barbeque chicken to continue!
