This is an intriguing idea, Cool. The other suggestions I’ve seen in this thread are horrible - except perhaps for the idea to swap KAT for Sabonis. We shouldn’t give KAT or Rudy away in some sort of fire sale.
Time to talk offseason.

Re: Time to talk offseason.
Kings just re-upped Sabonis. No way they're swapping him (and if shrinking in the playoffs is a fear of this team's fanbase, Sabonis ain't much better).
Franz Wagner is a rich ask in a return and he had a down year, but I don't see Orlando offering him up. Besides, Jaden's gotta be on the block somewhere else.
and let's face facts. When KAT gets moved, finances will factor in heavily. They may have to take back a package where the appeal is saving money, regardless of ownership, not just because of the 2nd apron but because Naz Reid WILL opt out next summer and the team WILL pay the 2nd most popular player on the team to stick around.

Why are we trying to blow up the team. They are in the WCF?

I think it's hard to retool with tax apron, and we never know when the wheels might come off of Conley. If Conley declines, we'll take a big step back. We can certainly run it back, and hope that Ant and Jaden have their best offseason ever. We need Jaden to work on his 3 all summer, put on a little muscle, and work on his handles a bit. If we run it back and Jaden can be a consistent 15pt 37%+ 3pt shooter, that attacks the basket next season we'll be in pretty good shape. Ant is going to see, that he needs to be in even better shape if we want to win a title, and hopefully that motivates him as well as working out with Team USA and playing in the Olympics. Ant adding the lob ability to Rudy, Kat and Naz, could do us wonders. Naz just keeps getting better, hopefully he adds some new tricks to his bag this summer. I'm not on team blow it up, but I'm also not opposed to switch some things up if Tim Connelly sees fit...as long as it's not strictly to cut salary for whoever the owners are this season.

Re: Time to talk offseason.
Let's not forget KAT was pretty awesome overall in the first two series. Great on defense and solid on offense. I would consider a KAT trade though sure. But not for some scrubs and backups.
Also it's not like we weren't right there to be actually up in this series right now. A few calls (refs have favored Dallas for sure which is fucking BS) or shots go our way and we are up 2-1.
Saying that, yes KAT has been terrible this series. But let's not forget the first two rounds either and the steps he took for the regular season which have all been positive. I don't think his value is as bad as some of you think if you look at the bigger picture.

Re: Time to talk offseason.
I think it’s time for me to be traded to another fan base.
Who’s the boards gm so I can demand a tradr. Tim, Kek. Lip etc?
I’m drunk and depressed. Draft Bronny Jr and trade Kat for Lebron in sign and trade and Kat can go play with his good buddy DLO again.

Re: Time to talk offseason.
We're coming off three games in which KAT's offense has been incredibly awful...0 for 8 in Game 3 gave us little chance of winning a critical game. But it seems to me that most of the Wolves fan base is a prisoner of the moment, and ignoring the facts that:
1) We were in first place in the West most of this season, with KAT putting up 21.8 PPG with a 62.5 TS%
2) We swept a Suns team that gave us the most problems during the season, with KAT playing very well at both ends of the court...52.9% 3-point shooting and defending HOFer Kevin Durant.
3) We beat a Nuggets team few pundits picked us to beat and many thought would win another championship, with KAT again playing very well at both ends. I don't believe we win that series without KAT bodying up Jokic while putting up 19/9 on 39.4% 3-point shooting.
So even though I'm feeling down after dropping 3 games to the Mavericks, isn't it a little knee jerk to want to blow things up primarily based on a 3-game sample size? If Wolves ownership (whoever they are) ask for my advice, I'm telling them to spend their money, let a couple unnecessary fringe players go (bye bye Moore Jr.), and make a nice draft pick. I get that the second apron is looming, but it just doesn't concern me as much as it does others. Having our draft pick move to the end of the first round doesn't seem to me to be very punitive to a team only able to draft every other year and who seems poised to be drafting near the end of the round anyway. And yes, there will be some restrictions on acquiring new role players, but I trust TC to navigate this. I want management to roll this roster back.
Now what do I think will happen. I'm not a big fan of Glen's, but I have some concerns about the budget he claims Lore/ARod submitted to the NBA...it seems designed to avoid luxury tax, and any roster that avoids the lux tax is not going to win 56 games again. So if new ownership comes in, I fear we will at least see KAT gone, and likely some other key players too. I'll start participating in the jettison KAT discussion if/when ownership signals or tells us they are going to be frugal. Until that, I want to see what this roster can do next year.

Not willing to stay above the 2nd apron doesn't mean you're frugal. Now for me, plan A is to run it back, but realistically, regardless of ownership, if you think you've run your course with a player or a lineup iteration, then decisions are gonna have to be made. Naz Reid and the love affair the state has with him is also gonna force the issue quicker than it should.FNG wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 7:58 am We're coming off three games in which KAT's offense has been incredibly awful...0 for 8 in Game 3 gave us little chance of winning a critical game. Re: Time to talk offseason.
My two cents… it’s too early to worry about the offseason. Plenty of time for that later.

Let's be honest and acknowledge this isn't the first time KAT has struggled in the playoffs. It's been a recurring theme in the few times he's made the playoffs in his career.
