The Wolves would need to make a Towns for KD trade before the new league year. That will be their last and only chance.

Trading KAT for KD makes everything next year title or bust and that's knowing Durant's gonna miss at least 20 games and he's getting older, so there's no reason to think KD will just be spry and ready for the playoffs. I mean geez we put KAT on KD and got away with it in a sweep.

I assume you meant "can't do Durant for Kat straight up"...

As phenom said, we could do a trade for Durant before July 1st. But the only trade I found that works is KAT and NAW for Durant. Seems unlikely...

Here is an interesting sidenote on trading KAT before July 1st: assuming the numbers work out, the Wolves could be only a 1st apron team heading into the offseason. They will eventually become a 2nd apron team, but before that happens, they could have use of the taxpayer MLE before they sign their own FAs, something that could be used to nab someone like Nic Batum...

But that would be playing chess, not checkers!

Correct, I meant can’t! I’m editing it now. Also I’m pretty positive you can’t do Kat and Naw for Durant in the second apron either. You can’t trade more players for less players.

But before July 1st, we are not yet a 2nd apron team…

Although, I agree that we will not see that trade, even if it did pass the rules test.

I wonder if Brooklyn flips Bogdonivic and some of that draft capital to Atlanta for Murray?

If they made a trade of this magnitude it's because they're 100% ready to blow it up

They also traded a 2027 Suns pick to Houston for their 2026 pick back and the elimination of the 2025 swap.

They're fully committed to the tank now.

The Washington Wizards are trading F Deni Avdija to the Portland Trail Blazers for Malcolm Brogdon and the 14th pick tonight and 2029 pick, sources tell ESPN.
