Ha, pretty sure monster meant to post that in the Kathy Morgan Home Remodeling thread...no truth to the rumor the Wolves are adding Kathy to their Iowa roster!

What I can tell you about Kathy's game is it's not just window dressing!

Below is the requested TSJ video. Well at least I'm pretty sure this is it but might also be the video I found about that guy that could get a 2 way spot. He really cooks!!!

Nice interview of TSJ. He stresses letting the game come to him and “staying within himself.” Those are words Josh Minott should live by. Josh was terrific yesterday except for the two or three times he tried attacking the rim off the dribble in the half-court.

Halfway thru the regular schedule Summer League games and getting back to Q's expectations...

Daishen Nix - sure seems like he has exceeded your initial expectations. I don't know if he will stick as one of our two-way players, but he does offer some depth in the PG room should injuries happen, and he could be very helpful in the growth of whoever is down in Iowa.

Josh Minott - while there has been some disappointment expressed on Josh, I think he's had a pretty decent performance thus far. He may even become one of your viable "Knobs" that Finch has at his disposal. Josh is extension eligible on 7/22, but I wouldn't expect any movement on that front. They still have a team option on the following season...

Leonard Miller - Not too much noteworthy stuff here. I assume he is kept in the G-League and hope his development continues at a faster pace.

Jaylen Clark - Wow! It's early yet, but Jaylen is making a statement. He may be too good for the G-League. The Wolves might be look at converting him to a standard contract sooner than later if his impact continues like this. Get him one a 4-year reasonable deal to supplant NAW after next season.

TSJ - He has not disappointed and might make the loss of SloMo irrelevant. He is only a year younger than Troy Brown Jr and clearly gives Finch another "Knob".

Jesse Edwards - I like the idea have adding depth to our "Bigs" room with a two-way contract. I am not sure Jesse is that guy, but you gotta start somewhere.

Dilly - can't say he has exceeded expectations, other than a nice knack for creating shots for others, which is no small thing. But I am not disappointed, either. It should be fun to watch him grow in the initial role he will be given with the big club.

Hifi - I am adding Nadir to the list. He has exceeded expectations with his all-around game on both ends of the court. I don't know if the Wolves expected this type of contribution so far. It will be interesting to see him play out the remaining games and if the Wolves try to do something more with him.

The games have been fun so far, although they have been closer that I might have expected. Both games could easily have been losses if things didn't fall the right way. Looking forward to more action tonight!

Good post Tim!

Here is my mini-report card (notes only, no grades!):

Nix - I pretty much wrote him off and of course he's one of the guys that has played the best! I still have my doubts with him, but his physicality and defense have been a big part of going 2-0 so far.

Minott - He has done one of the two things I had hoped for in terms of staying in front of guys. 3-point shot still looks shaky.

Leonard Miller - Still seems kind of lost defensively. Why is it we instantly got better whenever Jesse Edwards replaced him in the last game?

Clark - Confirmed already that he is an NBA defender, as expected. Still need to see more of his outside shot to see if he can keep defenses honest.

TSJ - Has all but secured a spot in the rotation as our 9th or 10th man at this point. Impressive.

Edwards - He has absolutely been solid in terms of his positioning defensively. He's not quick to the ball though and allows a lot of offensive rebounds. His hands are good, not great.

Dilly - Looks like he has legit PG skills. Not worried about his shot and we knew his defense would be pretty bad, but at least he is trying hard.

Updated notes on guys....

Nix - Probably the Wolves best player in summer league. I question whether his offensive game translates against NBA competition, especially the foul-hunting. They aren't making a lot of those calls in his favor when he tries to pull it off at the next level. His decision-making with the ball in his hands is often questionable. His defense was impressive.

Minott - Defense much improved. 3-point shot....not so much. He's also not a SF. He struggles to put the ball on the floor without bad things happening. He does look bigger to me.

Leonard Miller - Seemed to improve in the last couple of games and flashed some impressive all-around skills. The defensive effort was there, but just gets overwhelmed when he plays Center, similar to Naz Reid. Best-suited to play the 4 and is ahead of Minott on the depth chart.

Clark - Confirmed already that he is an NBA defender, as expected. Outside shot still shaky. Needs to prove that he can hit it in Iowa before taking on any minutes for the A-team.

TSJ - Interesting how he exploded in game 1 and then just gradually faded (I know his toe was bothering him in game 4). Seems to be the most NBA-ready of the young guys, but it's the same old question as nearly every other damn draft pick over the past 20 years. Can he make the 3? Didn't see enough to feel confident in that aspect of his game.

Edwards - He mostly passed the test I had for him, as he was absolutely a defensive presence with good fundamentals . But given his lack of quick-twitch burst and a still fairly skinny frame, I'm not sure it's enough to do the same at the NBA level. And his offensive game was really weak unless it was a dunk.

Dillingham - Didn't really have expectations for him given his age, but his inability to create space for himself and finish around the rim were red flags. His floor vision was better than expected and I thought he moved the ball well and brought pace to the offense.

I don't see Edwards as being as fundamental as Q. When it comes to how good Edwards is or isn't it's worth remembering that summer league often isn't the place for true bigs. The Wolves absolutely need to have someone like him that's a true C in Iowa they played way too small last year and it would be good for Miller to be able to play more minutes as a PF.

Over the last two games, Miller is averaging 21.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1.5 blocks per game on 51.3/20/75 shooting splits. He looks like he has found his rhythm and confidence with the Wolves in Las Vegas.

Summer League veterans Josh Minott and Daishen Nix are also two Timberwolves players who have found a rhythm. Over the last two games, Minott is averaging 16.5 points and 5 rebounds on 47.8% shooting. Nix is averaging 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists on 38% shooting.

We might see one of these two guys (MInott or Miller) in our rotation by the end of next season. I still see Nix as one of our three 2-way contract players, but you never know.
