I'm a big Jaden fan but we have heard this before about him. It's that time of the year! I saw an "article" today where some Warriors fan was getting all excited about Kyle Anderson's improved jumper. Lol Like one of the Wolves players said yesterday it's about playing well when the lights are on that actually counts. We do need Jaden to do more.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 10:05 pmJaden having the best offseason is about the best news we could hope to hear.kekgeek wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 4:56 pm Just reading quotes from today:
Naz is not currently extension eligible
Joe Ingles goal this year is to get Mike T’d up. Haha
Finch said Jaden had the best offseason of any player
Finch had glowing praise for Minott said he has been one of the best players these last 6 weeks

Re: Media Day
Yeah, I thought he had a pretty disappointing regular season last year relative to expectations, but he really did play well when the bright lights of the playoffs turned on. Would like to see him build on his playoffs during this upcoming regular season.Monster wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 10:16 pmI'm a big Jaden fan but we have heard this before about him. Media Day came 3 days late for these guys... Here's their presser:

In many ways, Randle had his best season playing under Finch (assistant coach) in New Orleans. Skillset is quite different that KAT, but I can see the Wolves being a better offensive team with Randle and Donte as compared to having KAT.

That Pelicans team won 33 games with a roster that also had Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday and were cool with letting him walk in the offseason despite being forced into a rebuild (that was the year Davis wanted out) and Randle was 24 at the time. Offensively that team was 13th, but defensively they were 23rd (the Wolves have a better supporting cast obviously).
Re: Media Day
I see Randle in the same way I see DeMar DeRozan. He's a very reliable scorer that does so in a way that isn't the most efficient for a team offense (i.e. not much gravity as a spacer or elite rim roller). But if you need to eat some innings usage-wise, he'll go get you points without killing you defensively. He's probably a slightly net positive overall, but really not a main driver of team success. You don't want him to be your best or second best player and luckily for the Wolves, he's not.

Re: Media Day
One of Randles most efficient years was when he played in New Orleans while Finch was there. I feel he has gotten too carried away with shooting too manyb3 pointers. A guy who shoots 3s at a 33 percent clip shouldn't be hoisting almost 6 3s a game or 8.3 like he did two years ago. He's not as efficient as Kat but overall he's a net positive. I feel if Finch can reign him in a but his efficiency can get pretty damn close to Towns. Add in Donte and possibly one of the better contracts in the nba and we made out pretty well. Got away from Karl's bad contract. It will be interesting to see what Finch can get out of him.
Re: Media Day
If Randle shoots 34% from 3 like he did when he took over 8 3’s a game let him bomb away. Like it’s been said before on this forum recently why did Towns only take 5 a game?!Crazysauce wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 5:16 pm One of Randles most efficient years was when he played in New Orleans while Finch was there. Watching the press conference and Finch after practice they definitely enjoyed that year together and Randle didn’t even get as many assists that year. I’m looking forward to seeing how this goes.

I think Finch might agree with you Monster. He was recently quoted saying if you lead the lead in 3-point percentage you’re not taking enough threes. He definitely wants this team to shoot more threes. If Julius can shoot 34-36% from behind the arc, then I think I’ll be OK with him taking 6 per game. I’m less concerned about his three-point shooting than I am about his tendency to be a ball-stopper. Before the last few years, KAT was often a ball-stopper but not as bad as Julius. Nevertheless, I love the respect and love Julius obviously has for Finch so I’m hopeful Finch will get the best out of him. Julius doesn’t have KAT’s perimeter scoring ability or overall offensive skill set. And Julius doesn’t provide the vertical defensive presence KAT provides. But Julius brings toughness that KAT doesn’t have, and doesn’t commit the volume of dumb fouls KAT commits. Hopefully, with Finch’s help, Julius can be a net neutral at worst as KAT’s replacement at PF. Add in DDV playing the way he played last season and the deal becomes a significant net positive for next season.

Definitely worth watching. Interesting to listen to Randle’s wife talk about the trade, their thoughts and the simple family impacts. Randle and his wife seem really smart and down to earth.
