Not an ANT fan page
Re: Not an ANT fan page
Speaking personally i was a pretty dumb 23 year old hornball as is 95 percent of 23 year olds. Give that person millions of dollars and probably having women thrown at you, i don't think there's many people who could honestly say they'd remain a saint

I think there are more people than you think would be able to handle it.
Re: Not an ANT fan page
Thanks to Bleedspeed for teeing up this thread. Perhaps we can limit discussions of Ant's personal issues to this thread, and only discuss his basketball performance in others.
It's a complicated issue. Can we enjoy watching a player whose personal behavior is despicable? Can we listen to and enjoy Michael Jackson's music? Can we watch a movie produced by Harvey Weinstein? Heck, even though it happened hundred of years ago, can we appreciate the art of DaVinci (who was accused of molesting young boys)? My opinion is yes...we need to separate the horrid behavior of the man from the skill which we enjoy, while at the same time condemning their poor behavior.
I agree with some here who wonder how each of us would act if we were 23 year old celebrities with millions of dollars. And I agree that Ant is not alone in making poor choices. But there is some evidence that Ant's behavior is much worse than even the average NBA player, and we need to recognize that and call it out...hopefully only in this thread. He seems to have no remorse for his repeated out of wedlock pregnancies, and his texts reflect a person with no empathy or concern for the welfare of others. He's such a dichotomy though, because it's so easy to like the guy at the same time...his childlike enthusiasm is quite endearing. But two things can be true at the same time...he is both a lovable charismatic young man, while also displaying horrible narcissistic non-empathic qualities.
But this is a basketball board, so while I abhor Ant's off-court behaviors, my main admittedly selfish concern is how does his character impact the Timberwolves. And I've ben making the same case for over a year now...my concern is that Ant might love the "NBA life" more than he loves winning, and this may hold him back. I contrasted his on-court behavior during the Laker game with that of two real winners...Davis and James. Ant seemed more interested in yakking it up with his summer Olympic teammates than he did in winning...and they in contrast seemed to be swatting him away like an annoying bug. I've said it before and I'll say it again...I worry that Ant may lack the gravitas needed to reach his enormous ceiling. I look back at the behavior of the top 100 players of all time, and Ant seems different to me. Wilt for example may have been banging a different woman ever night, but when he got on the court, he was all business. You never saw him chatting up his opponents on the court during he game...he just wanted to destroy him.
We don't know for sure how Ant's "social life" might be impacting his on court play. But late night dalliances and paternity concerns could be a reason why he seemed to tire so quickly during the playoffs. And his narcissism probably has a lot to do with his moments of incessant dribbling when a teammate is wide open...he can't see him, because at times he is focused only on scoring. I'll continue to cheer for Ant because he is our best player and best chance for a championship. But I don't respect his off-court (and sometimes his on-court) behavior at all, and hope that he grows up and reaches his potential.

I was too scared about getting girls pregnant otherwise I agree. I can see how it could go the other way though if I had 10's of millions of dollars though. I think I'd still wrap it up and protect myself as I wouldn't want to deal with the consequences. Who knows if a chick gives you a BJ and shoves it inside after and do other sneaky shit like dip into a used condom. Some crazy shit can go down. We simply don't know, but we can probably assume he's got many girls and probably not wrapping it up 100% either. Hearing NBA players talk on podcasts, it's pretty normal for Ants behavior. So if you don't like Ant, you really can't like any pro sports team. I think that is safe to say.

I agree for the most part. Ant can't get up ( ) for a regular season game. Even one with a National TV spotlight. But he does bring it for the playoffs when it really matters.FNG wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 8:56 am Thanks to Bleedspeed for teeing up this thread. He is still very young though. Those other guys are much older and much more mature now. Eventually the living it up gets a little stale and the consequences do start to weigh you down if they are not already. I think Ant will mature as time goes on, both on and off the court because he does have the determination to want to be great.

Again, what do I know about the situation his kids will be growing up in? Nothing, as of now. The pro sports dad is a logistical issue to begin with. We will see how he decides to approach it, or more likely we won't.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 9:50 pmI think there are real questions about what kind of father he can be to at least some of the kids that he isn't already living with. Sorry, but no matter how much money he has, juggling that many baby mamas while holding down a full-time job as an NBA player makes it hard to believe that he can be a stable presence for all those different kids (and there almost certainly will be more as time goes on). It's literally a logistical problem, never mind his emotional readiness for being a Dad.Phenom wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 9:17 pm Are people down on what kind of father Ant will be or the stereotype? Has a person that ever wanted an abortion become a good parent later on? I don't have any experience or knowledge to answer that.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2024 9:53 pmWell I do know he pressures his mamas to get abortions. If you cannot back a person due to what you deem despicable, I sure hope your glass house is immaculate. Where do you draw the line? Illegal drugs, strippers, alcohol, driving to fast, being gay, eating swine, wearing the wrong blend of fabrics, not stoning women who have sex out of wedlock, cutting off the hand of thieves, and on and on and on? It seems arbitrary that sex with multiple partners is where the line is drawn, but for only certain people. Leonardo Dicaprio is probably a groomer and pedophile, pick any person in power and they have skeletons in their closet.
Who here hasn't murdered a hooker because he didn't want to pay her?

Yeah for sure. I have friends who had abortions before going on to be solid parents. Some even with the same girl. For me it would be really tough to live with.Phenom wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 9:30 amHas a person that ever wanted an abortion become a good parent later on?
