G6 Grades

Post by Q-is-here »

Assuming busyness or ennui has set in with Kekgeek (along with others), so I will drop the façade and carry on for a few more games, but indifference may eventually set in with me as well. This team has not inspired confidence, even in its wins.

Ant - D+
Randle - C-
McDaniels - D
Rudy - D
Conley - D+
DDV - B+
Reid - B
NAW - B
Minott - B-

Team defense F--
Team offense D-

Where did the player movement and passing go?

Randle might(should) be gone by Christmas at this rate.

That game was an F around the board for me. I felt Finch has had no plan too. Not great so far. Thank goodness we have a weak stretch coming up. We need some positive momentum.

Q, I agree with your grades tonight, but not with your sentiment that indifference may set in with you. This was a terrible game for the Wolves, but I found the first 5 games very entertaining. I'm still don't know where this team will end up, but they have been really fun to watch (tonight notwithstanding).

I have been busy for most of the games so far. I am watching from afar so I see some of the games. But everything I mentioned about this team of my concerns in the win prediction thread has been correct outside of NAW who has been great

Understood Kek.

The way NAW is playing and Reid's continued struggles defensively makes me wonder if NAW should be more of a priority than Naz this offseason! Naz has been a wonderful developmental story for us, but bench bucket-getters can be found elsewhere and right now that's all he does. How much are we willing to pay for that?

I am VERY interested to see Clark in the G-League this year. He may actually be the best perimeter defender on the overall roster in that he can guard guys one on one plus is an elite thief. But his offense looks so far behind that I'm just not sure he will be ready (and may never be) to backfill NAW as our defensive energy wing off the bench.

My post KAT trade concerns of Naz playing too many minutes at the 5 is coming true. He hasn't been lighting it up on offense either like he had for most of last year especially when KAT went down. We should be offsetting some of his weak D with big O.

It's still very early. But seeing guys not playing hard enough during the regular season is also a concern. Can they just flip a switch any time they want when the playoffs roll around? IDK because toughness and grittiness (things like rebounding) is hard to just switch on I think. We didn't sleep walk through most of last year. We generally brought it night in and out. Too many games are super soft effort wise as a whole (not every guy for sure).

This team looks weak and soft right now.
