Cool, you used to talk about coaching girls basketball a number of years ago. Do you still do that? With retirement, will you increase your involvement in basketball, or winding things down to a more relaxing lifestyle?

Shum. I haven't coached for several years but if the opportunity were to present itself I would take a hard look at it. I'm planning on lots of golf and lots of gambling.

I'll be interested to hear if you get back into it. I coach some junior basketball over here (Australia) and at the end of last season, one of the parents thanked me for the time and the passion I'd displayed. I really reflected on the comment about passion - because it's not something that he should be thanking me for, but something that I should be very thankful to have. It is a great fortune to find something we can be passionate about. So, if that is basketball coaching for you - I encourage you to really pursue getting back into it.

Whatever retirement brings, I wish you all the best.

Cool, thanks for sharing this exciting news with us. I've never understood people who say they "flunked retirement"...I've liked every minute of it! I was able to start a not for profit for inner city kids (it's still going although I resigned from the board when we became snow birds in Tucson), learned to play guitar (never had time when I was working), playing a lot more golf (but not improving at all  ), and now play hardball three mornings a week with a bunch of 60+ guys who refuse to let the old man in. I hope your retirement is rewarding as mine has been. Enjoy!
