Detroit has now won 5 out 6
Yeah, they were playing so well before Ivey broke his leg, it was starting to look pretty good. But now Wendell Moore Jr. has moved into the starting lineup...no points tonight in his 15 minutes .

And, yet, they won again tonight! Hmm.. does this mean the Wolves are winners no matter the out come tomorrow night?!?

I've been watching for this pick also. There is plenty to watch in the standings between hoping the Jazz suck and Detroit wins and other teams lose. It's a shame Ivy got hurt regardless.
The Pistons have the 12th worst record in the League right now. They need to climb to #14 for the Wolves to get the pick. I think that’s highly unlikely, especially with Ivey lost for the rest of the season. I think our best shot at getting a first round pick from Detroit will be 2027 when the pick is top 9 protected. That would be a good year to get the pick since the Wolves currently have no picks in either round that year.

That's probably right, I do think Philly will pass them up, Chicago is currently 10th and I could see them dropping further if they ever find someone for Lavine and Vucevic. The Nets are the only team that could jump into the 9/10 slots, but they are selling their players as well so I don't think they will. Unless Detroit sells players like Beasley I think they have a decent shot at finishing right where they are at. Miami could drop if they don't get back help when trading Butler. Atlanta could drop if the injury bug hits them. What are the rules as far as the draft order and the play in games? Say Detroit finishes 12th worst record but wins the two play in games to make the playoffs are they still slotted at 12th or does it change?

Yeah, I agree with the conclusion that we won't get the pick this season, Lip. Detroit is a fun team and they took us to the woodshed last night, but Ivey was a huge loss for them and I don't think they can overcome it this season. But I think it's quite likely a young improving team like the Pistons makes the playoffs in 2025-6, and we end up with 2 first round picks then. And I don't think that's a bad outcome. Use the rest of this season and all of next to see what Rob, TJ and Clark might bring to us, and then supplement our young talent with 2 more first rounders. So while I'm quite down on our Wolves after Ant's "there's nothing I can do" speech 2 nights ago, I have some optimism about the potential of some young talent.

I think it's unlikely that we get the pick this year but the fact that the Pistons made progress from a really bad team to one that doesn't suck is a good sign for that pick being a 1st round pick instead of a couple of 2nd or whatever which was the worry when the deal was done. With it looking more likely it will be a first round pick it could also have more value around the league as an asset in a deal. I'm not really looking into any deals but it's always good to have another asset to make one.
I'll take the opposite view: Detroit's pick will convey THIS year. Yeah, they lost Ivey, but they have a nice combination of youth and vets. Cade is really coming into his own as a star. And don't discount the coaching ability of Bickerstaff. Detroit has been on a roll, and I don't expect it to stop. They are almost .500 now, and I expect them to climb in the standings.
And yes, the Detroit pick is really good asset, that might make the difference in pulling off a deal to address the deficiency in our roster.
