8 Games Left In The Wilderness - Nuggets at Wolves GDT

Post by 60WinTim »

Yeah, I am sticking with the Wilderness theme because that is how I feel -- lost in the Wilderness until the full picture of what this team looks like come the trade deadline. 8 more games to go, with a lot of winnable games. Although, today will be the toughest of the 8.

It's a 2pm central start today. We don't have an update on ANT's status, yet. I see Denver is favored by 4.5. It'll be interesting to see how we handle Jokic in this game. This might be Randle's best chance to make a statement that he's our guy. But I think the so-called "fit" and that "player option" are working against him.

The Wolves are currently in 8th place, but all the play-in teams are sitting at 21 losses. Lots of potential losses for Western Conference teams are on the table, so it could potentially be a good day for the Wolves. But a Wolves loss coupled with a Warriors win could have the Wolves completely out of the playoffs!

This has not been as fun as last year... :(

Come on, Jokic...how about sitting this one out? He is having one of the greatest ever all-time NBA seasons. He's always been productive, but this year he is exceeding his career averages in points, rebounds, and assists by 9, 2 1/2, and 3, respectively...unbelievable! And this 36% career 3-point shooter is at 47.9, second in the Association to Luke Kennard. Further, take away his 1 for 10 on (league-leading) heaves, and he has the best 3-point percentage at 50.3%! I guess Finchie has to put Rudy on him, because otherwise I don't know who Rudy can take here.

The big question is does Ant play, and if so, is he slowed by his illness. If he can't play, we'll see Rob, NAW and Mike suck up those 35 minutes. Rob seems to alternate good games with bad ones, so this could be his moment to shine.

Denver is hot, so the 4 1/2 point spread might even be light here. We need to play a perfect game (or hope they are looking past us or pissed off as they begin an 8 day road stretch through mostly cold northern cities) to win this one. But there's always hope...

Let's see here....we have lost our last two home games, Ant is under the weather, and we are playing a hot team with the best player in the world in a matinee. What could go wrong!?

Ha, I can't think of anything! Looks like Ant's playing, so that's good...line dropped down to 2 1/2 in the last hour. Let's go!!!!

The problem is an Ant "sick game" probably doesn't remotely resemble a Jordan sick game. We may be better off with him not playing if he isn't feeling well rather than him trying to be a hero and being sluggish and sloppy. I hope I'm wrong about this!

True...let's hope it was a temporary thing and he's 100% today. Ant has also had the reputation of not showing up for afternoon games, but he may have laid that to rest with his 32 points on 19 shots.

This matinee game thing goes back a long time.

A very long time. Just why has it been historically a bad, low-energy game for the Wolves but not their opponents for all of these years/decades?

Have most been on the road? Longer travel?
