Suns are fielding trade calls for Kevin Durant
I'm sick, we could've traded KAT for him but now I don't believe we have the salaries with the 2nd apron

Kd makes more than Kat. Would not of been possible even with KatBloopOracle wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:08 pm I'm sick, we could've traded KAT for him but now I don't believe we have the salaries with the 2nd apron

However, one of my blockbuster trade proposals has Butler to the Suns, KD to the Warriors and Randle to Miami! Just have to wait and see what we get in return...kekgeek wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:14 pmKd makes more than Kat. If KD goes, Suns would not want Butler.60WinTim wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:16 pmHowever, one of my blockbuster trade proposals has Butler to the Suns, KD to the Warriors and Randle to Miami! Re: Suns are fielding trade calls for Kevin Durant
It needed to happen before draft night although it is possible if the Wolves are able to pass at least 16 million more than Durant makes to a 3rd or 4th team. That would be very difficult to do misdeason. It would likely take Julius, Jaden, DDV, Rob the Jazz and Pistons pick and maybe one of Naz or Nickeil to pull it off.
Re: Suns are fielding trade calls for Kevin Durant
"fielding calls" is different than shopping him. Have they given up on their pursuit of Butler since Beal doesn't want to go and now they are pivoting to a rebuild? Or is this just the usual smoke?
Re: Suns are fielding trade calls for Kevin Durant
Just to visualize a KD to Minny trade it would look like this to be legal under the cap:
Suns trade KD for Jaden, DDV, NAW and Tucker
Wolves trade Jaden, DDV, NAW, Naz, Julius and Pistons pick for KD, Clarkson and Sensabaugh and some kind of a pick from Detroit
Pistons trade a pick of some kind for Naz
Jazz trade Tucker, Clarkson and Sensabaugh for Randle and I would assume would need to be the Pistons pick
Rudy/Garza
KD/Minott/Miller
TJ/Ingles
Ant/Clark
Mike/Dilly
The salary constraints are so tight that keeping DDV and sending Clarkson to PHX instead kills the deal. Perhaps they could send Conley to Phx instead of DDV but Phoenix has to WANT to make a trade.
Would you do it? I say hello no although the Wolves could in theory have a ton of cap room after a couple runs with Durant.

So in other words it makes zero sense for the Wolves.Phenom wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 4:09 pm Just to visualize a KD to Minny trade it would look like this to be legal under the cap:

Re: Suns are fielding trade calls for Kevin Durant
I mentioned in another post that basketball executives are not the brightest bulbs. That point is supported by the fact that there are still NBA executives who continue to trade young talent and picks for aging or injury prone veteran stars even though it almost never works out. The Suns are one of the many examples - trading for Durant and Beal. The Clippers trading SGA for Paul George is another example that I considered a bad move for the Clippers at the time. The latest example is the Mavs trading their 25 year old superstar for the 31 year old injury prone Anthony Davis.
I just hope TC isn’t one of the dumb one among NBA executives who can’t seem to learn from the evidence right in front of their noses.
By the way, I’m giving TC a pass on the Gobert deal. Rudy had always been healthy before TC traded for him, and although the Wolves traded lots of picks, they did not trade any promising young players. I still think it was a bad deal and a reminder that you should not give up a ton of assets for a 30-something player unless (just maybe) that player is a game-changing two-way player who is still at the top of his game with a history of physical resilience and provided it won’t unduly limit your financial and transactional flexibility.
