And Christie hits all 4 of his 3's and adds 9 rebounds off the bench in his first game for the Mavs! Dallas gets Christie, who was a consensus 5-star recruit coming out of high school, a first round pick, and a cinch future HOFer who's averaging 26/10 while challenging Wemby for DPOY, in exchange for a remarkably talented player who is currently injured and has conditioning issues. I'm going to leave my pitchfork in the shed until I see how this deal plays out.
I've got my pitchfork, torch, and grenade launcher! I'm even packing a squirt gun!

As we've talked about a bunch here, it's not as much the motive that is being questioned, it's the return and lack of a competitive bidding process for Luka. No one will ever convince me (or their actual fans) that this was the best deal the Mavs could get for him.

Then the Lakers declare rather publicly that they needed a big to help backfill AD - and voila! - Charlotte suddenly makes Mark Williams available in exchange for inferior players and a draft pick next century!

I'm back on the conspiracy train!
Lakers have now fired all of their bullets other than Austin Reaves. They will give Williams a fat deal in a year because they will have no choice and he hasn't shown the defensive ability requisite for a Luka team. I wouldn't superglue the OBrien trophy down in LA yet.
Yeah, I don't consider the Lakers favorites after these trades, but it's beyond frustrating to see other teams trade their players at a discount to them.

Yep, Voilla!! The Lakers need a center and they find a near perfect fit. Seems like teams can't wait to boost up the hollywood team. Wish it was that easy for us.

Reports are several teams have made 'aggressive' offers for KD as the deadline nears. I dont expect and would hope the Wolves are not one of them. After the flurry of deals with the likes of Detroit, Washington etc. it's probably near impossible now.

To expand on that thought, the number of expiring contracts that can be included in a trade have dwindled. Malcom Brogdon is one, but I'm not seeing a trade that makes sense for the Wolves. Boucher is another one - Poeltl and Boucher for Randle?

This wouldn't be for an expiring, but I wonder if the Wolves might make a play for Kessler? NAW for Kessler? Randle for Collins and Kessler?

Cavs are said to be after DeAndre Hunter. I'm not sure why the Hawks would want to trade him but if that falls through, I wonder if Cavs would turn to NAW. Could he net their 2031 1st with protections? Is that better than one last playoff run and letting him walk?

Max Christie is currently the most distrepected player on this board. It's like he doesn't even exist! Lol

Yep.

Max Christie could develop into an All Star player someday... and the trade would still be lopsided for LA. And... the other elephant in the room is that Davis is SEVEN years older than Doncic who is just now entering what is usually considered NBA prime years.

The Suns move off of Nurkic:

Shams Charania @ShamsCharania
The Phoenix Suns are trading Jusuf Nurkic and a 2026 first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for Cody Martin, Vasilije Micic and a 2026 second-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

I'm still going the other way on what Charlotte is doing. They are loading up on picks. This is what teams at the bottom should do. They know what is going on with Mark Williams and came to the conclusion he wasn't going to be worth it.

Gets Phoenix under the 2nd tax apron next year.

The only thing I hate is that while they're stocking up picks, they have no direction.

Brandon Miller
Dalton Knecht
TIdjane Salaun
Grant Williams
Miles Bridges

and they're gonna fall into another wing atop this year's draft.

There's a difference between depth and a clusterfucck. They've at least decided that Ball and Miller are the main guys, but if I'm Salaun, if I become a finished product, do I even fit on this team? Worse if they luck out and grab a Bailey or Edgecombe or God forbid Flagg.

All while they have no center to build with.
