The Timberwolves are not making a move at the deadline, source says.
A bit surprising with Minott and Garza wetting themselves lately.
It’s really hard to make a trade in the 2nd apron. 99% of the league makes more money than Minott so he really can’t be traded. Minott does not have 2nd round value back in the trade.

Randle is hurt and it’s been reported that the wolves did not want to attach a pick to get rid of him.

Rudy can’t be traded this year. They are not going to trade ANT. The wolves were unlikely to trade a young asset

Hard to know if Mike has any value.

Didn’t leave a ton of options for the wolves.
And then

Since I'm guessing Clark is going to be converted to regular contract for that last roster spot, I would have thought we would have traded one of Minott, Miller, Garza to an open a spot so we could have picked up a big in the buyout market.
There are restrictions to adding players in the buyout market as second apron team. Not many players who will be bought out will be eligible for the wolves to get

This was always the most likely outcome, even though I hoped for something done with vet mins.

I don’t think Garza or Minott have any value, and I doubt we’d even want to use a second to swap them
Yup. And if the Wolves find something interesting on the buyout market, they could always waive Minott or Garza since both have non-guaranteed contracts next year.

Guys, I appreciate you being so well versed on the 2nd apron restrictions. Kek seems to have written the CBA. The best part is I don't have to do any research, just come here to get educated.

That would add quite a bit of tax money though. There were teams that could have taken on one of our small contracts but TC must not have wanted to trade a 2nd to do so.

The one thing I wish I knew is when does a team need to get out of the second apron to not be punished with your pick 7 years later becoming the last pick in the draft. If you are an 2nd apron team 2 out of 4 years that is what happens with your pick. However are you punished if for 1 second in year 2 you are a second apron team or do you have to the end of the year to get out of the apron to avoid penalty?

Would love to know if we could enter the year as a 2nd apron team and then trade a player and not have those penalties.

I know the suns and bucks made trades to get out of the 2nd apron. So is this year considered a 2nd apron year for them or not?

Everything I've heard says your salary cap status is determined on the last day of the NBA year, June 30.

I think they would be more likely to waive Ingles than Minott or Garza.

Has it been reported Clark is for sure getting signed to a standard deal? Seems like if they were going to do that they could wait till basically the end of the season to do it. Saves a bunch of money.

And to be fair, we had a huge trade at the draft, and a huge trade in the pre-season.

I've said all along if NAW isn't traded it means TC has a plan to keep him. I don't know where Julius fits into the plan but I'd expect new deals for Naz and NAW this summer.
