If forced to make an offer for Durant, my untouchables would be Ant, Jaden, Naz, Dilly and TSJ rather than Rudy. But I can’t think of a realistic offer I’d be willing to make for Durant. We need to take the long view and build this thing. Stop the hale Marys! Stop trying to make a splash! TC had Jokic and Murray. He didn’t then start chasing high priced aging stars. He traded for Aaron Gordon and drafted Michael Porter Jr. They became a perennial title contender and eventually won a title. TC build something sustainable - a young team that grew together. That’s how you you do it.60WinTim wrote: ↑Wed Feb 12, 2025 10:04 am I actually like the idea of a one or two year run with ANT and KD. And I disagree that NAZ would not re-sign, although I could be wrong. If the money was right, I think his ties to the community and fanbase, and to ANT and Jaden are so strong that he could live with a bench role for another year or two, especially if the minutes were still there.
As for untouchables in a KD trade: ANT, Jaden, NAZ, Rudy, Dilly and Clark. I would hate to give up Mike (nostalgic reasons) or DDV (production reasons), but one of those two would be needed to match salaries. This likely means the Suns would not find any offer we made acceptable...
So, maybe the only way this happens is as DNatagal suggests -- as a FA in 2026.

I've been saying this forever and the Wolves never listen. All the idiotic trades this organization has made are to win now at the expense of down the road and TC has given away virtually all of our tradeable picks and gave KAT away. OKC has been the paradigm of patience, and it's paid off in a huge way. They have one of the best two rosters in the NBA and the deepest war chest of draft picks. The other organization that has been equally dumb is Phoenix. They similarly gave away most of their draft assets, plus Bridges and Cam Johson. They were a finals team with Booker, Bridges, Ayton, CP3 and Cam Johnson and yet the allure of Durant and Beal led to idiot decision making.
Re: Kevin Durant in the Offseason
I would love to have Durant as an aging vet on a value contract, but what team wouldn't? Does Durant want to play with Ant bad enough he signs a multi year contract at $30M per? I doubt it, but if 2026 rolls around and Ant has taken that next step, the Pups are playing like starters, and the Finals are within reach, he just might look at the legacy side of his career. Saying that he helped bring the first Title to the Wolves along with his superman, Ant, that might be enough for him. Who knows?

Re: Kevin Durant in the Offseason
I'm fine riding this main core, I wouldn't hate getting Durant either though if the terms were right. Fair extension price, etc.
I'm trying to think in my mind who would be more impactful to winning over the next few years. Say the trade was Jaden and Ju for Durant. Who is better? Jaden or Durant for the next 3 years? Jaden has upside and youth while Durant is obviously experienced but more injury risk, and then of course a top 10 player of all time and clutch scorer.
I still think Jaden can start hitting his 3 at a more consistent clip too, so I still see great things coming for him.

Watch the last ten minutes, Episode 2, of “Court of Gold,” the Netflix documentary on the summer Olympics.
You’ll see a completely different side of Kevin Durant.
