Naz has a 110.2 defensive rating this season, which puts him in a three-way tie with Jaden and Bam for 17th-19th top defensive ratings in the NBA. He’s not far behind Rudy who is ranked 13th with a 109.1 rating. We can debate how good a defender Naz is although his stats indicate he’s very good. But it’s at least clear that he’s not a bad defender.

As we saw in that last Wolves bucket before Donte’s, Naz is remarkably gifted offensively. He’s just scratching the surface of his offensive potential. With Rudy and Randle out for a while, we saw that Naz and Jaden are both very good rebounders. There are only so many rebounds to go around.
So let’s not kid ourselves. Naz is going to command close to $30M per year in the free agent market. The Wolves have to keep him and that means letting Randle and NAW go but that’s been true for a long time. Randle’s playing well, but he can’t be part of the Wolves future.

Losing Naz would be crazy. We are finally starting to develop players.

He ain’t passing the eye test right now…
None of the Wolves players are passing the eye test defensively tonight. But when it comes to Naz over the course of almost the entire season, the numbers are far more reliable than your eyes. . Naz also had a very good defensive rating last season.
