The Minnesota Timberwolves plan to convert guard Jaylen Clark on a fully guaranteed, two-year NBA contract, agent Todd Ramasar of Life Sports Agency told ESPN. Clark has been on a two-way since being a second-round pick to Minnesota in 2023, now earns a standard deal.
Very curious if year 1 is considered this year
Jaylen Clark sign a 2 year deal
Re: Jaylen Clark sign a 2 year deal
Clark is signed to the min this year and next year. Making him a UFA after next year what sucks
Re: Jaylen Clark sign a 2 year deal
Bones Hyland signed on 2way deal! I like it.

I'm guessing he will be restricted that third year similar to Austin Reaves. Reaves was restricted, and the Lakers could match any offer on him. There were also limits as to how much any team could offer Reaves.

Congrats to Clark! Well deserved.

Now confirmed he will still be a RFA, good for all involved
Re: Jaylen Clark sign a 2 year deal
Now for something positive....
This guy is turning into one of the more extreme "star in your role" players I have ever seen on a Wolves team.
He is sporting a 4.25 assist to turnover ratio. He has a total of 4 turnovers over his 29 games and 410 minutes played for the Wolves! If you are going to have somewhat sloppy, turnover-prone ball hogs as your stars, Clark might be the ideal team mate since you damn well know he isn't going to do anything stupid and keeps the ball moving.
And it's not like he is a total dud offensively. He averages 11.2 points per 36 minutes, which isn't much, but he certainly does enough to keep defenses honest. NAW averages 13.3 points per 36 minutes as a point of comparison.
And finally, he is probably our best or tied for best perimeter defender right now.
He's a keeper.

So true, Q. And shame on Finchie for only giving him 12 minutes last night when he was arguably our most effective 2-way player...a well-deserved +12 in his 12 minutes. Yes, he does protect the ball well and make good decisions, and he is one of our best guys at cutting to the basket at exactly the right time for easy layups (Ant should watch some film of his cuts). And while some of you are more confident about his 3-point shot than I am, he has made 41% (18 for 44) and was also effective in the G League...I'm keeping an open mind. Really fun player to watch!Q-is-here wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 9:53 am Now for something positive....

Re: Jaylen Clark sign a 2 year deal
If Clark’s shooting thus far this season isn’t just a temporary fluke, he looks like a player who will star in more than his role. It’s really exciting to think of how good this guy might turn out to be. He’s not really young, but he’s not old either and hasn’t had much NBA experience. He’ll turn 24 at the beginning of next season. He was certainly the steal of the 2nd round a couple years ago. He may turn out to be the steal of that entire draft.FNG wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 10:37 amSo true, Q. And because of Clark, I have absolutely no concern about losing NAW.
Re: Jaylen Clark sign a 2 year deal
Lip, I was a skeptic about Clark's shot while you and others here were saying he had potential. But I'm turning around on this one...his shot has looked really good to me in the past couple weeks, and he's getting results. It's fun to be wrong when it's positive for the Wolves!
