Maybe, because we win a 4-team tiebreaker between the Clips, Warriors, Nuggets and us. But I also think we might win a 3-team tiebreaker that excludes the Clippers. So maybe it doesn't matter.BloopOracle wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 4:26 pm So we actually want the Clippers to beat the Kings tonight? This is all so complicated lol

Re: Playoffs discussion
Holy crap the Clippers beat the Kings by a single point, I think that's good for us?
Re: Playoffs discussion
Clippers survive. I'll leave the Lakers out for now.
FIXED
If Wolves win AND
If Denver and Clippers win:
Wolves are 6th play Lakers
If Denver and Warriors win:
Wolves are 5th play Denver
If Denver loses Warriors win:
Wolves are 4th play Clippers
If Denver loses, Clippers win:
Wolves are 5th play Clippers
I'm pretty sure this is right.

Good work, phenom. Of course, if the Ant suspension leads to a loss against Utah, we most likely finish 8th and go to Memphis for a play-in game (other games could change this result though too). Even though everything went according to script last night, playoffstatus.com now has the Nuggets with the best chance of finishing 4th (36% compared to our 35%) and gives us a 44% chance of finishing 5th. I think this is based on the theory that the Rockets aren't going to care about their game with the Nuggets, having already locked down 2nd place, and might mail in the game like they did last night against the Lakers. Kind of sucks.Phenom wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 11:43 pm Clippers survive. I'll leave the Lakers out for now.

Or does it? The Clippers are currently the hottest team in the Association, and we always seem to play well against Denver. Maybe an away series against the Nuggets is a better option for us than a home series against the Clippers.
Re: Playoffs discussion
I think my preference is the Clippers. The Lakers are a worst-case scenario not just because of the potential for ref bias, but also we don't really have a good matchup for Doncic defensively and he just knows how to surgically pick us apart.FNG wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 8:52 amGood work, phenom. And despite our recent history with Denver, I'm not sure I want to go up against a team that has a new set of eyes and voice at the helm. I'm not suggesting that Adelman is a coaching genius, it's just that at some point it feels like Jokic and Co. will "solve" the Wolves. We aren't the Yankees to their Twins after all!
So I'm hoping it's the Clips, not that they are an easy out either! Isn't it time for Kawhi to get hurt again!?
Re: Playoffs discussion
I agree, Q. I'll be cheering for the Rockets to actually try on Sunday and to beat the Nuggets. Even though home court hasn't been particularly kind to the Wolves this season, a rabid crowd can still be a big positive in the playoffs. Go Rockets!Q-is-here wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 9:28 amI think my preference is the Clippers. Re: Playoffs discussion
If Ant is out, I'm still predicting a win. Jazz have been going after the tank hard and they need this loss to maximize their chances at Flagg.
Re: Playoffs discussion
I'm also predicting a win, phenom, but I believe the outcome of the game is irrelevant for purposes of the lottery...the bottom three teams all have a 14% chance, and Utah, Washington and Charlotte are all locked into bottom three.
Re: Playoffs discussion
I guess the only reason it matters is that if both Washington and Utah get passed in the lottery, the winner of the coin flip would be 5th instead of 6th. Maybe that won't matter to them.
Re: Playoffs discussion
Ya, if the Jazz win and wizards lose they can fall farther in the draft, yes there odds for pick 1 stay the same but they can fall farther in the draft with a winPhenom wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 11:22 amI guess the only reason it matters is that if both Washington and Utah get passed in the lottery, the winner of the coin flip would be 5th instead of 6th.
