Curry's injury thread...

Post by AbeVigodaLive »

It's the story of this series, so why not make a thread about it.

- He's already out for Game 2. I've seen "hopes" that he returns for game 5 or 6. But nobody really knows.
- Curry is one of the most important players for his team remaining in the NBA playoffs. Over time, it will be revealed just how laughably far of a drop it is to Buddy Hield.
- Minnesota has been embarrassingly bad vs. depleted teams this season. They've now played four straight underwhelming games vs. GSW... even with the Warriors missing key players in almost all of those games (4 wins). Is this a fluke? Or, have the Warriors figured something out about MN?

Relatedly, anyone else feel the air sucked out of the room? Even if the Wolves beat a depleted Warriors team without Curry, is it enough for you to be a believer again? The Wolves have gone from favorites... to "they better win."

Injuries happen every year. If the Wolves make it past GSW I will not be upset. These are the things that great players seem to learn from and improve on. Ant needs that punch in the mouth to have fuel for the next step during the off-season. If he learns from it and can use it, it is worth the price of admission. If not, he becomes a good player on an underperforming team that gets split up in a few years. The last of Great players that never won a championship is much longer than you think.

I’m a big Curry fan and love watching him, but I’m a bigger fan of the Wolves advancing. And we have a better chance of winning if he misses several games. That said, we can’t ignore the fact they played us even after he left the game. Their offense is so much prettier than ours. Heild works as hard as Curry moving without the ball, relocating from corner to corner to get open. If Ant would learn to do that, he might score 35 a night…but it’s hard work.

I don’t think we’ll see curry much if at all. We win thursdsy, and might even sweep on their court. Not a great way to win, but better than losing.

It's only a grade 1...strain but no tear. But most sources are saying he's likely out at least through Game 4 on Monday...and could be longer. We can only hope that last night was a wakeup call for our Wolves, and they are up 3-1 by Steph's potential return.

The chance of re-injury for this type of thing is pretty high, historically for those that push it. Maybe they put him out as a decoy but that seems pretty pointless. If he running around, starting, stopping, planting, popping for 4 miles of court running, his chances of holding up are minimal. Steph should not be a concern for this team anymore.

I want the feeling of being in the WCF again, it won't kill my high but still losing to the the Warriors would make the low reach the depths of hell.

Losing Curry sucks for Golden State, but we've got way too much evidence of the Wolves falling short against opponents with injured stars to trust that their talent advantage will win the day. And now Golden State can really lean into their stifling defense. I'm not predicting anything one way or the other, but I certainly don't feel any more or less confident than prior to his injury.

Exactly on point. This teams lack of showing up to play is all on itself. Not having Curry could be more detrimental to us then to them! GSW in 4.

You guys bring up a legitimate concern based on how we didn't show up this year when an opposing star was missing. But there's one difference here...we just got embarrassed in game 1. Eddie Johnson just made the same point this afternoon on NBA Radio. After Termine asked if the Warriors' best hope was to only be down 3-2 with Steph returning for 6 and 7, Eddie said he didn't think Golden State had much of a chance to win another game...it's going to be 4-1. He said the combination of losing last night and Curry going down was the best thing that could have happened to the Wolves. I'm kind of leaning the same way. I didn't make a prediction for this series, but now I'm joining Tim with Wolves in 5.

That said, it's not going to feel as good as beating the Lakers or last year's 2 series victories. I was quite excited coming into this one, but Curry's injury and the Wolves' horrid shooting make me feel kind of cheated right now...it's just not going to be the series I was looking forward to. Don't get me wrong...I'll take a tainted advancement to the conference finals over a well-played series loss. It just won't feel as good as last year.

Only grade 1 huh? Damn. I don't care how we win or why we win. Just survive and advance. We have to win a game on their court, so I hope he misses at least 3 & 4.
