- Randle sported a surprisingly better Asst:TO ratio. For a guy that seems to be so efficient in his movements and shooting, Durant sure did turn it over a lot. And he played with Tyus, so it's not like his PG was encouraging the sloppiness.

I'm still president of the "run it back" club...I just can't let a bad series against an elite team change the opinion I had going into the series based on an exceptional final quarter of the season. I think anyone would be intrigued by Durant...he's a great player. But here's my big issue. The majority of this board has moved on from Mike Conley, and say we just can't have a guy that old in the starting lineup (despite the fact that he continues to be a much needed stabilizing influence on this team and we continue to perform better when he is on the court compared to off). Well, on September 28 both Durant and Conley will be the same age...granted Mike moves ahead of him again in October. But here's my problem...I think anybody that watched Mike bust his ass in the playoffs and the entire season, and then compared it to Durant's lazy demeanor on the court (at least every time I watched him this season) would never believe that Mike is the slightly older player! I'm not willing to get older and give up significant assets betting on the chance that Durant's attitude is going to suddenly change overnight because he now gets to play next to Ant rather than Booker...color me skeptical on that one.

And I get that your comparison here is not Durant vs. Mike, but Durant vs. Randle, and Randle's body language sometimes mirrors Durant's (although not as often). I just don't know that I want two guys in their late 30s in the rotation.

Plus, I think we have to get real about what we would have to give up to bring in Durant...not only what works under the CBA, but also what the Suns would accept. We can talk about aggregating salaries of players we don't care about, but let's keep it real here. The Suns are going to insist on bringing in players who can help them long term, and I have to believe that would include Jaden plus some young players we are betting on. I'm not going to take the time to do it, but I would be interested in seeing a deal proposal that both works financially and is attractive to the Suns. I think when most posters here see what that would entail, they will say "that's giving up too much to bring in a guy turning 37".

I think we as a whole are downplaying his still elite level offense. Randle also plays with Ant who takes doubles and frees up space for Randle quite well. Durant would actually open more driving room for Ant also making Ant better. Elite 3P shooter versus defenders who sag off Ju. You want to leave Durant open for 3's all game, cool, we can take that.

The question ultimately is how bad does Durant want to still win and contend? Can we give up minimal compensation in getting him here? I'd hate to trade any young guys we like on rookie deals.

Yeah, a lot not to like about Durant with his age being the #1 factor, but the other is that he is seemingly discontented almost everywhere he goes. We'd be talking about a two year window of usefulness in my opinion and he'd be a borderline part-time player during the regular season in order to ensure he's rested and healthy for the playoffs. Far from ideal!

However, the numbers don't lie...he is still one of the elite scorers in the NBA and makes it look easy in that he doesn't have to labor much. He just rises above the defense and shoots.

The obvious question is what would it take and is it worth whatever we would have to give up? If Randle picks up his option, which is a distinct possibility given the lack of cap space out there, something like Randle, DDV, Dillingham, and a draft pick may do it.

I don't believe Phoenix would be looking for some ridiculous haul given his age and one year left on his contract. And I certainly don't think the Wolves would give up Jaden, as I actually think having Durant play between Jaden and Rudy would be a critical factor in making it work defensively.

Mostly agree, although I'm not sure how excited I would be about signing a 38 year old free agent. But yeah, the deal Q proposed, which I could see PHX biting on, would be giving up too much in my opinion for a short term pickup.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm as much of a rube as anyone here, and the prospect of picking up a first ballot HOFer who is still a prolific scorer is intriguing. But I agree...at what cost. It will be interesting to see the deals that get proposed here.

I again, would not give up anything you like for Durant. If after watching Dilly this year and you feel like he'll likely never be more then a backup (coaches and TC consensus), then sure. But I'm not shifting guys I like who are on rookie deals/team friendly deals for what could be a short term guy. You never know with his age as well. I'm not gutting any current assets I really like.

I still do potentially like Durant on this squad, but it has to be for minimal compensation given his age and salary. I don't even think I can include DDV. We'd be selling low on him, I like his aggressiveness on D/rebounding and his upside on offense. He could become a 40% 3P guy again. It doesn't make sense to include DDV. You have to be looking more at Dilly, maybe Minnott, Leonard, etc...

It has to be Julius in the deal unless each team was into having Rudy in the deal, which is doubtful.

After Julius we have to assume Jaden is not on the table. I can't imagine the Wolves would trade both Julius and Naz in the deal so keep Naz out. It sounds like Mike is essentially not going anywhere.

Donte would need to be involved. That leaves Rob plus one of TJ, Luka, JC, Lenny or Josh

Keep Rob and throw in 4 of the 5 other guys.

I'm cool with that if it doesn't touch pick 17 or 31 and if KD is actually good with taking a major dip in pay. That would leave the team quite flexible going forward. It seems like it opens the door to retain Nickeil as well.

If we trade for Durant, we have to keep Ant, Jaden and Rudy and we have to trade Ju. I'm fine with throwing in a couple other guys but not sure if I want Dilly to be included as Wolves gave up a lot to get him. I wish Dilly and the young guys got more burn as I don't know who the long term keepers are. Yeah, I hate Finch for not playing a deeper rotation during the regular season with the young guys getting the chance to develop.

I'm also nervous about a Durant trade given his age and injury propensity. He had three bad ankle sprains last year and he's not getting any younger. I'd rather show him some love and say we want you in 2026 when you are a free agent to help Ant win a ring.

The one positive is that he's clearly our 2nd option.

The negatives are that it destroys our identity immensely, forces Finch to rely on rookies when he doesn't like playing them anyway (and if Finch could manage a solid defense with cheap young bigs then goddammit why wasn't this an option before?)

I just don't see how it works. I don't want this to become a Make a Wish come true for Ant at the expense of everyone else.

Denver moves Porter, Murray, Braun, Westbrook and picks and bring in Durant, Naz, Monk ,Chris Paul to run pick and role with Jokic. Maybe Brooke Lopez would sign for 5-7 million to give much needed rim protection and extra 3 pt shooting.
