You seriously crack me up, seriously lol. Imagine how great Ant could be if he didn't have a crappy coach!!!KG4Ever wrote: ↑Wed Jun 04, 2025 10:30 amDid you actually poll coaches? 99% is just some number you made up and that is what you lead with? Pathetic! I disagree with Finch's lineups as he overplays cold or ineffective or defensive dogging players, overplays guys when game is out of reach. And Finch fails to give young guys and new guys much of an opportunity to develop and to form a deep rotation when it could help.Wolvesfan21 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 04, 2025 10:15 amThis is Finchies strength. He benched Randle a former All Star in the playoffs! 99% of coaches would not have the respect of the players or balls to even do that.KG4Ever wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 6:54 pm I wasn't a Thibs fan mainly because he was a terrible GM but I didn't like his shallow rotations and that he overplays guys which has led to injuries and lack of development of the non-rotation guys, his failure to live up to his defensive genius reputation, plus his barking is really annoying. Can't say I'm upset by the newsThe only downside is the Knicks may tap a guy that I was hoping the Wolves would consider for their next head coach.

Thibs and Finch are cut from the same cloth in many ways with similar strengths and weaknesses.
Thibs and Finch are both good coaches who regularly get their teams into the playoffs. But neither are great coaches and that is what I want here. I want a coach who can make in-game adjustments, who can develop a deep rotation, can bench guys when they need to be benched and who can inspire the team when they need it. None of these attributes are strengths of Thibs or Finch. I like the precedent that even if a coach gets to the finals like Thibs, his job may not be safe. Heck, there are several coaches who won a title and didn't last more than a couple years later. I'm hoping TC who inherited Finch might consider a different direction either this offseasonor next if the Wolves don't make it past the conference finals.
How has Ant developed? Poorly I suppose? Finch has nothing to do with it? I don't understand how you can only see your own nonsensical negatives when the REAL positives are slapping you in the face. Ant was once a young player who has developed BTW during Finchies time, in case you missed it.
The other guys are coming along just fine. You don't hand them minutes, you make them earn it by performing in practice, offseason, summer league. Finch sees these guys in practice and knows more then you, me or anyone else on this board. He's doing a great job to me.
Now saying that if TC who also knows a lot more did replace Finch I'd be fine with it, though skeptical for sure. But by all accounts the players love playing for Finch and Finch has had 2 really great seasons back to back. Best coach in Wolves history in case you forget all those 20 win seasons.
Ant would be a superstar with any coach. He's that talented. Finch is riding Ant's coattails. Also, TC has traded away nearly all of our draft assets and has near the highest collective salary to give Finch talent to surround Ant with, and Finch could only manage a sixth place finish.
Who was coaching the all-star game when the team lost by the biggest margin ever?
If you like never making an NBA finals, Finch is your guy. But I'll be thrilled if Finch, the Thibs clone, is gone.

The New York Knicks are reportedly interested in pursuing Minnesota Timberwolves Head Coach Chris Finch as their next Head Coach
Ime Udoka, and Jason Kidd are also on their radar

Exactly, Giannis is quite fond of Kidd. And I think that's the only reason Kidd would leave Dallas to coach the Knicks. Unless the Knicks do something drastic to improve their roster, what reputable coach would think he could improve on a 50-win season with that roster? The only problem is the Knicks don't have the established young talent the Bucks are saying they want. I don't think the Bucks would want KAT, but if KAT stays in NY, he, Giannis and Brunson alone would use up over $160 million in cap space. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Re: Thibs Out in NY
Sounds like writers are spitballing names to create clickbait articles, so I doubt anything comes of it. However, if we could trade Finch to the Knicks, and pick up anything of value, perhaps a second round pick, I'll volunteer to help Finchy pack his bags.

I mostly agree with you but remember Rosas did hire Finch when he was the wolves GM

Just saying, Doc Rivers coaching in the all star game this year was a thing of beauty.
Re: Thibs Out in NY
But not as beautiful as the 2024 game. Before then no NBA coach had ever given up over 200 points to the opposition in an NBA game, but along comes Finchy and his team of superstars including SGA, Jokic, Curry, Durant, LeBron, Doncic and Ant gave up 211.Crazysauce wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 9:37 pm Just saying, Doc Rivers coaching in the all star game this year was a thing of beauty.
Re: Thibs Out in NY
I thought for sure TC was going to fire Finchy immediately after that All Star game debacle. Any smart NBA fan knows a coach should be judged based on how his All Star team performs. If you can't coach defense during an All Star game when every player out there is locked in and focused on stopping the other team, how can you expect to be successful during the regular season?
