You add Bam to a starting lineup of Rob, Ant, Jaden, and Naz. I think you would really be on to something with that group. And since you can't platoon offense and defense in basketball, I don't think you can win a championship with Rudy. He's just so far down offensively. I don't want to hear about his net ratings, he's just not serviceable on offense. With Bam we would suffer some defensively but the team would be much better overall.
That’s really intriguing, Cool. I like it a lot!
Sure, I'd like to add Anthony Davis too, but it won't happen. Pat Riley and Spo are smart. They aren't trading their best player who is 27 for two one-way players who are on the wrong side of 30.

I'm waiting for Abe to chime in with his thoughts!
Cool was just spit-balling. Obviously, combining the salaries of Rudy and Randle would be WAY more than Bam’s, making the trade impossible under the CBA. But when you substitute Naz and then start adding players/assets like Donte, and our two picks this year you’re getting into the realm of reality. Maybe you add Miller and Minott. Miami obviously has to shake things up a bit and significantly retool or maybe even rebuild at this point.

Or maybe there’s a creative multi-team trade out there where Rudy and Randle or Rudy and Naz are combined with other non-core players/assets to bring in Bam.

I can’t imagine Miami has any interest in trading BAM.

But there is a number in the 16 mil range where we might get SloMo and a draft pick for NAZ in a sign and trade!

Of course, where the hell would our 3-point shooting come from in the front court with that scenario?!?

Connelly has a real puzzle to solve with our frontcourt. I'm not 100% opposed to a Rudy trade, but I just struggle with how his defense and screening gets backfilled in the absence of a player like Bam coming back, who obviously is a very good defender in his own right, but I agree Miami is not going to give him up.

My preference is that Rudy increasingly becomes a role playing defensive Center that doesn't need to be out there 30+ MPG. And in fact, that's exactly how Finch used him in these last playoffs - he only averaged 24 MPG and the team handily won the minutes he played, so he is still a positive despite the lack of offensive production.

The issue is can we win the minutes when Rudy sits, mostly by being better offensively but also ensuring our defense doesn't completely crater. And can Naz and/or Julius be a part of that solution or do we need to move on from one or both of them?
