I ask you both, why exactly would you do that trade? Either way, as far as I can tell, it wouldn't work within the rules.FNG wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 7:52 pmI actually might do that too, Bloop. But I would ask for one more thing...a strong statement from both TC and Finchy saying they had both met with KD and got assurance that not only did he want to come to Minnesota, but also that he was excited about playing for a championship with Ant and Rudy. Without that, I wouldn't give up anything.BloopOracle wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 7:41 pm Randle DDV Shannon Jr and 17 for KD with extension is the most I would be able to stomach
Maybe they need to get Glen Taylor to gaze into KD's eyes like he did with Wiggins?
Kevin Durant Rumors

Re: Kevin Durant Rumors
I didn't bother to look at the legality of the trade, just whether it would make us better or not. Rudy/Jaden/KD/Ant/Mike is a championship contending starting lineup, and we'd still have Naz, Rob and Clark off the bench and maybe NAW...plus whatever #31 might bring. I'm not an advocate for a KD trade because I suspect the Suns are insisting on way more than I would be willing to give up, but this one would make us better.TheFuture wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 8:10 pmI ask you both, why exactly would you do that trade? So it's basically Towns and TSJ for Durant? PassFNG wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 8:24 pmI didn't bother to look at the legality of the trade, just whether it would make us better or not. I watched a clip of Sam Amick talking about the situation. It wasn't anything too different than what was in the article I read from the athletic but it was interesting seeing him say it. He does seem to think Durant for whatever reason doesn't have the Wolves on the list (he doesn't get why he doesn't) but the Suns clearly want the Wolves to be on the list. He brought up what happened with Butler and at the end said he thinks is still gonna be a bit before something happens because some team is gonna have to throw in something else at least he fore the Suns bite.
I'm starting to hope he goes elsewhere and will breath a sigh of relief when it happens because I'm getting the sense that to get him some team will end up paying a pretty good package to get him and that means it will be more than I want to pay. To be fair I'm a cheap ass though. Lol

Re: Kevin Durant Rumors
Problem is, does anyone really believe Mike is a starting caliber PG anymore? We trade away yet another pick and a 1st round pick from last year in TSJ for a geriatric in KD (in NBA terms) and then extend him for part of the planet's GDP.FNG wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 8:24 pmI didn't bother to look at the legality of the trade, just whether it would make us better or not. KD is the anti-christ in any trade. He guts the franchise he is traded to. Then forces franchise altering changes to appease him. Then forces a trade elsewhere. Only to rinse and repeat. The only true success he found in his career is when he scurried away from his young team in OKC to sign with the best team in NBA history, who he almost helped to dismantle, and won his only two rings. He has never reached the Finals since, nor the conference finals. Honestly, screw the guy. He will force changes to appease him, but has loyalty to none.
Plus, still doesn't work.
Re: Kevin Durant Rumors
You know, integrating Rudy onto a team is not trivial. If Rudy is included in a KD trade, I wonder if Conley is also required to help with that integration process…
Re: Kevin Durant Rumors
I'd say if he was sent to the Suns, then they should retain Tyus. I think Tyus and Rudy could work rather well.
I don't think Conley is going to be traded for anything. That is your handshake deal that I don't see being tarnished. Too respected around the league to go behind his back like that.
Re: Kevin Durant Rumors
I don't remember if this was discussed yet but the Crunch Wears No Pants pod said they have a source (who called the DLO trade and Mike extension) that said the Suns and Wolves were at the finish line on Saturday night for Rob, DDV and Julius on a new deal. But KD nixed it when he said he wouldn't re up.
I said a few weeks back that a KD trade was fairly straightforward and figured its those 3 since Mike is supposedly not being moved and because I didn't think there was an appetite to include Rudy from either side.

Re: Kevin Durant Rumors
That’s probably an accurate report given the reliability of this source in the past. I wouldn’t do that deal if I were TC because I think it undervalues Dilly, Donte and Julius while overvaluing Durant. Note that the extension Durant refused to sign with the Wolves is reported to be around 2 years, $120 million. So if this deal happened, we’d have Durant for three years, age 37, 38 and 39, at $54 million, $60 million and $60 million in each of those years. Meanwhile we’d be giving up a very talented young guy at a position of need - PG - who we’ll be paying $6.5 to $8.7 million per year over that same period with the inside track on re-signing him long term if he turns out to be really good as I think he will. So the deal is highly questionable based solely on the inclusion of Dilly. And let’s not forget that Donte is a really good player in his prime at age 28 who had a bit of an off year this past season but will likely bounce back next season. As for Julius, I’ve never liked his fit on the Wolves with Rudy and Ant but he was a major contributor to the Wolves making the Conference Finals as our #2. Durant was the #2 on a team that didn’t even make the play-in. If the Suns are interested in Julius then certainly others teams are as well, which means we can pass on Durant get still value for Julius in a sign-and-trade. Keeping the still relatively young Randle one more year wouldn’t be bad either. Right now keeping him can be viewed as an insurance policy against the possible loss of Naz in free agency.60WinTim wrote: ↑Fri Jun 20, 2025 7:22 amI was meaning to go listen to that podcast.
