Bored Silly - How About The Draft?!?
Re: Bored Silly - How About The Draft?!?
Joan Beringer is interesting. He's got a 7'4.5 wingspan, is 6'11 and is said to be very athletic. He's an international player, so its hard to find meaningful stats on him. One draft profile says he blocked 2 shots per 36, which is pretty good, especially at age 18. So, I like what I've read so far and he's 18. Definitely a candidate for pick 31. Anybody, have him as a candidate for 17?

I think Atlanta nabs him at 13.

Kalkbrenner is one guy I actually know something about since he played up the road at Creighton. I'll throw in some thoughts.KG4Ever wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 6:32 pm Ryan Kalkbrenner is interesting as an option at pick 31. Great size and great block numbers and his net rating is excellent. It looks like he could in time be a three point threat, though its not there yet, though there is some concern with free throw shooting hovering around 70%. The one buzzkill with Ryan is that he is 23 years old and while he may have a decent floor he may not have as great a ceiling as other center prospects.
First of all I'll site the measurements you probably already know. 7'1" without shoes and 7'6" wingspan. He is a large human being.
His shooting is not thrilling but he has had a not horrific shot for a few years now so his decent success last year shooting the 3 isn't a total shock or fluke. I don't expect him to be a significant threat at the NBA level but even if he could hit 30% on 3's and just be an option every once in a while that would be at least something. Imagine if Gobert was a guy that was any kind of a threat on a corner 3. That would help. As for his FT shooting a guy that size hitting around 70% is fine with me players with arms that long can struggle a bit shooting.
Other than shot blocking and his defense at the college level I'm not sure he really stands out a ton but he also does well enough at a variety of things reasonably well. He can score some and he moves reasonably well but isn't gonna make anyone's jaw drop with his athletic ability. I think he might have enough skill to score on a small defender if he got the ball in the paint.
It's worth noting he has been playing big minutes for 3 straight years. A number of other college bigs don't play even 30mpg and he has played over 34mpg the last 2 years. He wasn't just a guy out there he was a big part of everything they did. He seemed like a guy that played with energy too. What if his shooting was effected by fatigue?
I could get reasonably excited about him at 31 without knowing enough about the other prospects in this draft. He feels like a guy that you would love to have on your team and would do anything you ask. As other people have said he might not be there...or maybe he doesn't even go that high. He is an interesting prospect that I'm a fan of but I get his limitations. Still watching him he simply swallows people at times as a shot blocker.
Re: Bored Silly - How About The Draft?!?
Ok I'm doing a little draft late homework. I looked up a couple guys some of the mocks had us taking at 17
Egor Demin. Interesting player but not really a scorer at this point but being that big of a PG could be interesting. A thought came to me what if he is the next Kyle Anderson. Not bad but probably not what you want at #17. Sounds like he is more talented than that and might not even make it to 17.
Derick Queen. Man this guy would be fun to add next to Dilly bar right? right? Lol first watching him I was like can't decide what to think of him but man he really does move well and has some nifty offensive game. Idk how well that will work at the next level but he was very productive as a freshman. He actually reminded me me of a weird combo of Naz and Towns but without the shooting prowess. He plays stronger than either but idk how explosive he is vertically. He seems like a guy that could really come into his own physically and is pretty skilled. Not sure about his defense but watching highlights he is a really fun player to watch. He doesn't look like he minds mixing it up for rebounds.

Re: Bored Silly - How About The Draft?!?
I am not really interested in Demin, he seems like a big gamble and project. The last big point guard we drafted was Bolmaro and he was a bust and there were several better options available like Desmond Bane, Immanuel Quickley, Payton Pritchard and of course, Jaden McDaniels. If we want a big point guard, just trade for Lonzo Ball who I expect we could give up NAW, a second rounder or minor player for.Monster wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 9:28 pm Ok I'm doing a little draft late homework. I am not excited about Queen either. We need a rim protecting big more in the Rudy mold than one in the Naz mold.

Re: Bored Silly - How About The Draft?!?
If we were to draft Clayton or Kasparas if he falls to 17, would anyone trade either Clayton/Kasparas or Rob to Dallas for lively? Dallas gave a three year extension to Gafford, have Davis and will be drafting Flagg who is more of a PF. Dallas is also looking for a point guard with Irving's injury.
Re: Bored Silly - How About The Draft?!?
Sure, I'd consider trading 17, but I haven't heard Dallas is shopping Lively and he's on a rookie deal thru 2028. Given Dallas's success with Gafford and Lively platoon in the past, I'd assume they are happy having both guys. Rumor is Dallas wants to sign Chris Paul to start until Kyrie returns. I also think this draft has a lot of quality bigs, so I'm fine with just addressing that need in the draft.rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 11:07 am If we were to draft Clayton or Kasparas if he falls to 17, would anyone trade either Clayton/Kasparas or Rob to Dallas for lively? Re: Bored Silly - How About The Draft?!?
With the high variability in ranges for so many players, I could see a path where 17 and 31 could get the Wolves in a nice spot to move up if the right guy is sitting there at, say, 9-14.
I don't know if it would be a good idea but if they are locked in on Maluach, Sorber, or Beringer, maybe it would make sense.
