ESPNs latest mock still has Sorber at 17 but leads with the Wolves at open to moving this for future assets if the board doesn't fall their way.

They have Walter Clayton at 23 but have this to say about him in the blurb as well. "Minnesota, Miami and Atlanta are considered potential suitors."

There's a lot of smokescreens obviously this time of year...

... but there was truth to Connelly's statements that picks #17 and #31 would be behind three very young players (Dillingham, Shannon, Clark). Add to it that the Wolves are planning to contend... and I would assume the Wolves will be active dealers tonight and tomorrow.

I’ve always thought it would make sense to trade one or both picks for future picks. At the same time, if we were to draft a big that guy would not be behind Dilly, TSJ or Clark. So if TC sees a big he likes a 17 he should grab unless he’s certain he can get that same guy or equally attractive big at #31 or by trading down in the 1st round. I like Sorber a lot. I also really like Beringer’s potential. I like Raynaud and Fleming. I like Kalkbrenner, Konan and Rocco as well although I see those three as more second round caliber.

If they can trade for a similar or high upside first in the future, then its ok. Im not even sure that offer will be there. I would guess a trade down is more likely than a trade out.

We'll see how the draft goes, but I'm guessing both Sorber and Berringer are gone by 15 at the latest. I like Raynaud and Fleming but not enough at 17, so I could see trying to trade down at that point if the team wants one of them. Maybe 17 to Brooklyn for 22 and 26 or 17 and 31 for 19 and 22. You could take a player with one of the picks and trade the other for a future pick.

In reading ESPN mock draft last night they specifically said the Wolves were interested in Wolf. I know most people aren't a fan of that pick and I get why. He is a guy I like but I don't know how much. I decided to watch a little highlights to refamiliarize myself with him as I watched him in a couple games in the tourney. One thing that jumped out at me that I didn't remember was in terms of just running down the court he looks actually kinda fast. He is skilled and has pretty good size but isn't explosive athletically although he moves reasonably well.

I get that it would make more sense to add a guy that's more of a defensive player and I'm not advocating for drafting Wolf (unless he says slipped to 31) but just getting someone with that size that can play wouldn't be the worst thing. This is a lazy comp but finding the next Kelly Olynyk wouldn't be a game changer but I wouldn't be a disaster either. I'd hope for more and won't be sad if another team takes him.

The Timberwolves are signaling their openness to trading this pick for future assets, depending on who is available here at No. 17.

The Hoopshype aggregated mock draft (based on all the major mocks) has Beringer going to the Wolves at 17 and Sorber going to the Wizards at 18. I’m been thinking that both might be gone and that would would likely be gone before #17. But the aggregated mock suggests both will be available. Raynaud will definitely be available at 17.

I think 17 lands us a good prospect and we might even be able to get Fleming or Coward if we trade back to 19 or 22. I see no reason to trade up unless Ace Bailey takes a major fall to the point where 17 and 31 could get him.
