Second Round: Official Draft Day Thread
Re: Second Round: Official Draft Day Thread
LOL!
I see the Lakers just made the first day two trade to move up 10 spots in the 2nd round - #55 and cash to Chicago for #45.

I'll kick this off with an unequivocal response: Keep the pick and draft Fleming. The more I read about him, watch him on video and think about what we need, the more convinced I am we should accept the gifts the draft has delivered us and grab Fleming at #31.
Re: Second Round: Official Draft Day Thread
Yeah, on paper, Fleming seems to eventually be a nice compliment to both Rudy and one of either NAZ or Randle. But we know the Wolves evaluate a lot more than just stats and the good highlights. If TC selects Fleming, it will mean that those other things passed the test as well.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 12:17 pmI'll kick this off with an unequivocal response: Keep the pick and draft Fleming. "Chicago informed the league this morning they were fielding offers for No. 45, sources say. Other known spots open for trade: Charlotte, with one of Nos. 33, 34, Toronto (No. 39), Golden State (No. 41) and OKC (No. 44).JakeLFischer
Minnesota, with the No. 31 and first pick of tonight’s second round, is also fielding trade interest for the Timberwolves’ selection, sources say."
Sounds like a lot of 2nd round picks are taking calls. If you can get a future first round pick maybe you take it, if all you can get are 2nds take Fleming and have some insurance in case you want to move on from Naz one day.

Re: Second Round: Official Draft Day Thread
Exactly. That's why I trust TC on this decision. I consider his decision-making very sound when he's not big-game hunting. TC and his front office guys have a lot more information than we do and they have an impressive track record evaluating draft prospects. So if they draft Fleming or anyone else at 31, I'll have a lot of confidence in the guy they pick. If they trade the pick for a future asset, then I'm comfortable they made a sound decision to pass on the guys I really like.60WinTim wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 1:07 pmYeah, on paper, Fleming seems to eventually be a nice compliment to both Rudy and one of either NAZ or Randle. I see this as due diligence by TC. He'll weigh the value of the offers against the value of the player he could take and make a decision.rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 1:38 pm Pat McAfee

Re: Second Round: Official Draft Day Thread
I think we have enough - call them "inexperienced" vs. "young" guys on the roster already. I'm hoping they can flip this next pick for a future 1st. I'm not sure what is possible to make that happen, but I'd be fine adding a guy off our roster plus that pick to get a decent future 1st. Finch is not going to play inexperienced guys unless someone puts a gun to his head. Minott, Miller, Newton...I'm not sure any of those guys will get a shot here. Clear a roster spot (for a vet PG we need) and add a future 1st.
Re: Second Round: Official Draft Day Thread
Nets trading 36 to the Suns for a couple future 2nd rounders. Setting the market? Which ought to be better for 31. Although, Fleming is still atop my list!
