So we have a modern switchable rangy defensive big and traditional drop defensive big in the pipeline. Nice. But neither will help next season in all likelihood.

I wonder if Joan has the ability to play some PF?
That’s a good question and I think the answer is probably yes. As we all know, it’s defense that ultimately determines your position. Listening to Matt L go on and on about Joan’s switchability tells me the Wolves brass believe he can play the PF position. So you can sort of see a Joan/Rocco pairing down the road.
I'm not suggesting the success will be the same but Connelly drafted a bunch of center sized guys for Denver over a couple of drafts. One of those guys didn't turn out to be much of an NBA player long term in Joffrey Lauvergne but showed enough promise that Connelly traded him later for a couple future 2nds and he was late 2nd round pick to begin with. I believe the GM he fleeced for those 2nds was Sam Presti. One of those 2nds Connelly used to select Monte Morris. Who was playing checkers back then!?

This is just me but I think there was a player that if they had dropped to 36 the Wolves may have taken them and been happy to have those future 2nds. Maybe they did simply didn't think a pick was worth having to have that open roster spot and went with another option with Rocco but I think there is a chance my theory is correct. Either way I'm kinda fine with it because Rocco is intriguing and having some more future picks is something that I think is a good outcome.
Rocco Zikarsky will spend the next two seasons on a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, a source told ESPN. Will give the Australian plenty of time to develop alongside Rudy Gobert and Joan Beringer.

Ah, that’s a good one, Monster!
Also after Joffery's moderate success with the Nuggets I was actually kind of a fan of him and thought the OKC deal was a good flyer for them. I think Abe or Q said something like they didn't think he could defend anyone and didn't believe in his game being worthwhile in the NBA...
