Reid declined a $15 million player option for next season and chose to stay with Minnesota despite a vibrant market developing of teams interested with similar money but with starting roles. The 2024 Sixth Man of the Year and Minnesota are locked in for the long term.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 8:05 pmopt-in an extend. Dane Moore said it was an opt-in and extend, but the final result is the same.

Yeah, I think it is an opt out and sign 5 year 125 mil contract. If you assume it is an increasing contract by the full 8% allowed per year, it works out to a first year salary of 21.55 mil.BloopOracle wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 8:07 pmI'm seeing he opted out and did 5 for 125WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 8:05 pmopt-in an extend. That puts the Wolves at 14 contracts totaling 203 mil. The 2nd apron is set at 207.8 mil, so the Wolves have a little over 4.5 mil to work with for that last roster spot...

Jalen Williams is still on his rookie deal, but is eligible to sign a 5 year 296 million extension for making All NBA. Chet is also on his rookie deal, but can sign a 5 year 247 million extension that would bump up to 5/296 if he were to make all NBA or all defensive team in the next two years.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 8:04 pm I'm a bit conflicted. Glad he's back, but they're paying Naz and JMac as if they're our JDub and Chet and I have major reservations about that.
It's a)more than I woulda paid and b) money we weren't seeing from others. We saw 4/$87 or 4/$100 (which is the same thing as this).
I don't know what this does for Randle and it shouldn't affect how we felt about a long term deal with him anyway. Our roster feels very locked up, so our hopes and dreams are really coming down to Shannon justifying NAW's departure and DiVincenzo's eventual departure and more importantly, Dillingham being the Robin to Ant's Batman.

A 5-year, $125M is a significant step above the 5-year, $109M opt in and extend option for Naz Reid.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 8:14 pm

Wolves are still finalizing structure of Reid’s new deal, per source.
With a deal of that size, without making another significant cost-cutting move, the Wolves will not be able to retain both Randle and Alexander-Walker while staying under the 2nd apron.
-Dave said it was a step above what he could of gotten if he opted in
Re: Naz is back!
I think it’s an overpay but the thing that makes it better to me that no long term player for the wolves should be up for a big contract soon.

and next year, Randle, Conley, Minott, Garza off the books, we keep our 26 pick
Basically it's on TC to keep the talent coming in and developing them.

Re: Naz is back!
I think that of semi-importance is that he had other similar offers available to him. That means he is tradeable if the need arises and would probably be a key piece in a potential superstar trade down the line.
I'm glad he's staying but I get the feeling he is being paid off to be happy coming off the bench whereas I might rather trade Randle into a backup big and point guard.

I guess we can cook up Randle for (insert starting PG deals) but I think whoever they get is gonna be a huge leap of faith TC will take on. I don't think it'll be some established no doubt star, but this is the summer where TC gotta replenish. Off to a solid start with Beringer but he has to find another NAW.
