He brings leadership, mentorship and cohesiveness. Even coaching. For a guy who may not play a minute, I don't love it, but he does add value as a bench guy.Lipoli390 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 12:02 pmI’m also shocked and disappointed. He brings absolutely nothing of value to the team. This strikes me as a really dumb waste of a roster spot and precious cap space under the 2nd apron. We can still sign two more vet minimum players to fill out the 14th and 15th roster spots. Or we can use the full $5.7 taxpayer MLE to sign a backup PG or backup C and keep the roster and leave the 15th roster spot open.kekgeek wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 11:43 am Free agent forward Joe Ingles intends to sign a one-year, $3.6 million deal to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources tell ESPN. Wolves officials negotiated the deal with Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports to bring Ingles back for his 12th NBA season.
I’m actually shocked

Agreed, be a positive locker room guy, leadership, coaching (I saw dozens of times of him talking to guys on the bench last year), be a positive influence, root on teammates, etc...
Play in a pinch but doesn't need too.
Re: Joe ingles back!
OKC won a championship with no less than 3 players playing legit minutes 2 as starters that were at one point in their career that type of player. Every roster spot does matter. I'd like to have even the next Aaron Wiggins on the Wolves. Jaylen Clark wasn't even a 15th man last year.
Re: Joe ingles back!
I think the initial reaction was around spending valuable cap money on Joe versus a position of need where we could potentially use help from a player higher up the pecking order than 13-15.
I think Kek has allayed some of our fears with the additional cap info, but still....didn't expect to bring Jingles back.

I hate it when people say this. What a cop out. No, you actually use these 3 spots to bring in at least a couple young guys to see if they can be developed.
You’re saying that instead of signing Naz Reid (I know he was probably a 2 way at first, but should be the same thing) as an undrafted rookie, we should have signed some old guy who never plays? We already have mike for that and we should be at the point now where we don’t need either.

Re: Joe ingles back!
Also, why not keep Minot over ingles? It wouldn’t be my first choice, but at least it offers some upside. This is a team with very few future 1sts… we should be getting all of the young talent in the that we can.
Re: Joe ingles back!
Ugh! I’ve been traveling all day. I wondered if we might bring back Jingles when we drafted Rocco. But didn’t think about it again when we seemed to be short on roster spots. Here are a couple other thoughts:
- It was unclear after the draft if Rocco would play in the G-league or go back to play another year in Australia. I would suggest re-signing Jingles means Rocco will remain here on a 2-way, which would be pretty cool.
- The plan last year was for Jingles to be part of the regular rotation. The KAT trade blew that up. But with a need for PG depth, Jingles could offer some help, ala SloMo (I think someone mentioned that). Plus he won’t complain when he’s not playing (someone mentioned that, too). It’ll be interesting to see if TC still adds to the PG depth.
- I know some posters don’t buy into the “locker room presence” talk, but most people know it’s a real thing and can absolutely impact winning on the court. Good move by TC!

They have 5 young guys on the roster right now that need to be developed! How many more do you want?D-Loser25 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:06 pmI hate it when people say this. What a cop out. No, you actually use these 3 spots to bring in at least a couple young guys to see if they can be developed.

I think you could go with someone that is still kinda young but experienced in the NBA and could continue developing as a role player. This is what they were able to do when they acquired NAW but that was also via trade and Finch had a previous relationship with him as well.guest81 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 4:55 pmThey have 5 young guys on the roster right now that need to be developed!
