He also shot 33% from 3 tonight. I’m not worried about him at all. He will rarely have the ball in his hands on the nba team besides catch and shoot opportunitiesQ-is-here wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 11:11 pmHe was also 38% in the G-League on over 100 attempts, so basically he was hitting that shot all last season in the G-League and NBA. I’m far more concerned by Clark’s horrendous shooting and lack of any semblance of an offensive game than I am about Dilly’s defensive lapses and occasional bad passes. Dilly is lightening quick and can get to anywhere on the floor he wants and get a shot off any time he wants. When paired with Ant he’ll definitely scare some defenses.

It was telling that Miller wasn't in the game with the other starters in the 4th, with the coach opting for Newton instead.kekgeek wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 11:08 pm Just a few thoughts
TSJ just too good for the summer league however I will not mind him playing all summer because he makes the job easier on others.
Dilly was a mixed bag, I still worry that he really struggles at the rim. Thought he defense was not good tonight, thought his passing and pace of play was great today
Clark is struggling with his shot but he shot well at the nba level and he is a game breaker on defense
Beringer does not have much of an offensive game but his hands and athleticism pops on TV. Happy he was our pick because he looks like he could be special
Rocco was also really nice tonight. Made a great pass, made a floater, defender the rim. I’m intrigued to say the least.
Miller was terrible, I just don’t think he has the basketball IQ to be a successful nba player.
I want to give a shout out to Newton. I thought he was great tonight and props to him because I see why the wolves want him on a 2-way
I thought Beringer got better as the game went on. The dude really reminds me of Dereck Lively II with his poise and strong base for such a young dude. Lively II was a 20-year old rookie when he gave us fits in the Western Conference Finals a year ago and I was so impressed with how poised and mature he played. Beringer is giving me the same vibe!

Lively is the best comparison ive had also, since seeing his first game the other day. I just didn’t mention it yet, because I think he might have a higher ceiling than Lively (not that I even watched Lively this year, just going on what I saw in the WCF)Q-is-here wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 11:17 pmIt was telling that Miller wasn't in the game with the other starters in the 4th, with the coach opting for Newton instead.kekgeek wrote: ↑Sat Jul 12, 2025 11:08 pm Just a few thoughts

Oh, the ceiling is higher for Joan. He first touched a basketball 4 years ago. He's going to be sick.D-Loser25 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 13, 2025 12:09 amLively is the best comparison ive had also, since seeing his first game the other day. Watching the replay now...very excited about what Shannon might bring this season at both ends of the court. Like everyone is saying, he has nothing more to prove in Summer League, but the rube in me wants him to keep playing so we can win a SL championship. Love Clark's intensity on defense, but I agree that he is fairly limited on offense. Seems to me right now that Shannon will get the majority of NAW's minutes, but I also think Rob looks ready for maybe 15 minutes a night or so.

Exactly what I was going to say, Cool. Great hands; excellent athleticism, length and strength. As an 18 year old, he’ll still get much stronger. What’s going to make him special is adding his basketball IQ to all of those other high-end attributes. He has that Neo processor in that he sees and processes the game faster than those around him. Bird had it and that’s what make his an hall-of-famer in spite of his lack of speed and athleticism. Jokic is a more current example. And at age 18 with only 4 years of basketball behind him, Joan’s in the very early stages of developing his Neo processor. I don’t need to see the Oracle; I already know Joan is the One.Coolbreeze44 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 13, 2025 12:41 amOh, the ceiling is higher for Joan. He first touched a basketball 4 years ago. I agree with you on Shannon. I know deep down it’s best to sit him but that Rube impulse in my is strong and I know I’d be really disappointed if he wasn’t in the lineup on Tuesday. But I’d also probably be a bit relieved.FNG wrote: ↑Sun Jul 13, 2025 8:03 am Watching the replay now...very excited about what Shannon might bring this season at both ends of the court. I agree that Rob looks ready for 15 minutes per game - maybe 20 in my view depending in Conley. But unlike Shannon, Rob is still very much a work in progress for whom the remaining SL games and subsequent practices at Mayo Clinic Square over the next 3.5 months could and should have a substantial impact on the quality of his play and readiness for NBA minutes.
Rob has two flaws on the offensive end - occasionally carelessness or poor decisions with the ball and finishing at the rim. The first one will resolve fairly quickly with more practices and PT, and we could already seen improvement in that area last night. The second flaw is something that will likely take longer to fix but it’s definitely fixable with time and practice. Recall that even Ant had finishing issues his first couple seasons and we’ve all seen that improve. I might have concerns about Rob improving his finishing if he didn’t have a 42” vertical but he has the hops to get up to and over the rim so it’s just a matter of control and approach, which will come with time.
Many have expressed concerns about Rob’s defense from the moment he was drafted because of his size. Those concerns based on size are reasonable but I think they create an observation bias that leads to unduly negative assessments of his defense that we wouldn’t see in assessments of other players who are bigger but no better defensively. I thought Rob was good defensively in SL game 1 and while I agree his defense wasn’t as good last night I don’t think it was bad. When considering his defense, it’s important to factor in his 3 defensive rebounds, 3 steals and the fact that opposing players have to have him on their minds as a potential ball thief. It’s also important to keep in mind that he played 29 minutes as our starting PG (more minutes than anyone else on our roster at a pivotal point of attack position) on a night when we held the opposing team to 83 points.
So I remain bullish on both Shannon and Dilly for next season, knowing that Dilly won’t turn 21 until January and is still very much at the front end of his developmental curve.
Beringer was terrific again last night, but how about my man Rocco! I think this year’s draft might have been the best of TC’s career to date as an NBA executive. I see both as big parts of this team’s future with Ant, Jaden, Naz, TSJ and Dilly. And it looks like they could be parts of the team’s future as soon as next season.

If Shannon keeps improving on his playmaking and passing, Might we see a starting lineup of Ant, TSJ, and Jaden one day at the 1-3?
Re: SL Game 2 - Wolves at Nuggets GDT
Just finished watching this one. Again I'll give my thoughts before going back through the thread.
TSJ OK it's 2 games now that he has shown the passing and while I'm not completely surprised because of some things I saw him do in college it's excellent that he is showing it.
Dillingham wasn't perfect but overall it was a nice game from him. He hasn't arrived yet on D but he is working at it and he has a bit of a knack of getting to the ball he could he a pretty good steals guy.
Beringer wasn't as impressive which would be tough to follow but he was still good. There was one possession where he easily flipped and guarded both bigs very quickly under the basket. He had a couple really good looking rebounds he definitely gets to rebounds outside his area.
Miller when he doesn't try to do to much is solid. I'd guess he won't he trying to do much if he actually had to play any important minutes in an NBA game.
Clark did his thing. He had that escape dribble 3 that was nice.
Cain continues to look like a guy that could play NBA minutes for a team and not suck.
Bailey and Newton battle is becoming closer in my head. I still like Bailey more but Newton was better in this game and his defense was very good and Bailey was just fine on that end. One of the issues I have read about Bailey is his finishing around the rim. That showed today. Still is is slippery and can get places with the ball. Newton had some nice passes but idk how I feel about him as a PG. Of course for all these guys including Dillingham most regular season games you will see much less ball pressure than in these summer league games.
Jesse Edwards I do think has improved over last year. Could he keep improving to become some sort of worthwhile backup center? Maybe. His upside is playing D rebounding etc he isn't an offense guy but a role player. I woukd guess he is also gonna be a guy that plays better when he and other players know how each other plays.
Rocco had a nice game showing what he can do. Guys are probbaly gonna be able to go around him now but thats OK he offers enough other stuff and he can get better.
Overall this was a well played game for a summer league squad. I just looked at the box score and only 7 turnovers in the 2nd summer league game!? Wow that's pretty good.

I'm not worried about Clark's lack of offense. I see him possibly being similar to Gary Payton is which is sort of like a very good cutting big although Clark isn't the athlete that Payton is. Q mentioned Josh Okogie to me Clark is a better defender and Okogie even with his flawed offense is still a worthwhile NBA player. I'd be pretty happy to get a better defending Okogie with a late 2 round pick. The key will be to figure out what we have this season to decide how much to pay him next offseason.
